Journey Man
An interesting piece about the need for holistic development of athletes to ensure they have off field character to make them a rounded attribute to their chosen sport.

Described as "ground breaking" tennis and soccer are looking at a development proigram for their young athletes.

Sounds like something I mentioned in my season post mortem.

Somehow I doubt it has been given any credence. Manly, ground breaking? Pah!

EQ or Emotional Quotient is being looked at as an indicator to futur success in school, and even in sporting cultures. The ability to play in a team, work with staff, get on with those around, to solve problems, manage conflict and develop resilience is seen as being as important as ability. How many potential or even realised stars have you seen 'hit the dust' because they couldn't keep their personal life together.

The last time anything ground breaking happened at manly was when Brett Stuart scored the winning try again Penrith in Round 13 and fat, old byso jumped for joy ;)
