Winging it
SO this is what the boys have been up to in northern England the past few months. Manly trio Steve Menzies (Dorothy), Glenn Hall (the Cowardly Lion) and Heath L’Estrange (The Tin Man) were joined on the town in Leeds by former Shark Brett Kearney (the Scarecrow).

Characters from Wizard of Oz: Scarecrow (Brett Kearney), Tin Man (Heath L'Estrange), Dorothy (Steve Menzies) and the Lion (Glenn Hall) at a dress party in Leeds.

Beaver wore the skirt only when Matt Orford called in sick with a tummy bug.
“Steven was initially going to go as the Wicked Witch of the West but when Ox fell sick Steven filled the red shoes,” our English spy told us during the week.
The pic was snapped while the boys were doing the Otley Run, a famous stretch of pubs on Otley Rd in Leeds.
Don’t go to Brookie
WE hope Matthew Johns and Shane Webcke aren’t planning on covering the Sea Eagles-Knights clash in Gosford, with both believing the game will be played at Brookie on Saturday night.
The Matthew Johns Show made a lukewarm debut during the week, with the pair slipping up when previewing Saturday’s round-three match at Gosford’s Bluetongue Stadium.
“They are back at Brookie for the first time this year,” Johns said.
Not quite. Manly fans still have another two weeks before the club trots out onto their spiritual home ground when they host the hapless Sharks on Sunday, April 11.
Cliffy’s wrong date
ROUGH luck for champion touch footballer Cliffy Lyons and his midweek Body and Soul team in the open Manly-Warringah businesses competition.
Lyons and his mates were preparing for a 6.20pm tip-off in their preliminary final to qualify for a 14th straight grand final.
But unfortunately, it didn’t materialise with the starting time brought forward, catching Lyon and his team short.
“They changed the bloody times on us and we didn’t know,” the Sea Eagles great told us this week. “So we forfeited the game.”
Their opposition simply tapped-off, scored a try, and won.
