Can't help but be a little excited about a Ballin and Watmough led coaching team
Really? They have Manly DNA but what coaching record do they have? Would that coaching team really be able to attract the top line players we need? Could they rebuild and reshape the squad? Could they manage the media and player managers? With all due respect. to Matt Ballin he is so far down the pecking order at the Broncos that he is only allowed to give wristies to Barrett who gives them to Maguire.

Although that coaching team might give a sugar rush now I'd actually hate to see two club greats invariably sacked by the Penn family in 2 to 3 years time because they couldn't get the job done. Sacked from a job that they probably weren't qualified to do in the first place and only hired because the owners are cynical (they know the fans will approve) and cheap.

A 1st grade coaching job is not the place to be doing doing an apprenticeship

As opposed to the top line talent our current coach has attracted to the club? And who gives a rats about the media? Ballin has served his apprenticeship.

Surely we'd be trying to avoid a repeat of Seibold era recruitment of plodders with any new coach? Ballin has served an apprenticeship? Where? Certainly not at a top club like the Storm, Panthers or even the Roosters. I'm not trying to put **** on Matt Ballin, I think he is a club great. I am just saying I don't think he is ready to take on a tough job, now.

If / when Seibold gets the arse the next person will have a really tough job moving Manly on from the DCE & Trbojevic eras at time there are two new teams joining the comp. Competition for players is going to go to a whole new level and a first year rookie coach with limited experience and limited profile ain't the answer to our woes (in my humble opinion).

Its like maybe, I dunno the fans are speaking out and people in the media and old boys are listening and joining in. But what would i know, we cant change anything.....🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Fair enough. I just think our chances of getting a top line experienced coach are negligible. As I have said elsewhere, the only way Manly can compete is to go back to Manly DNA and go from there. That means having people in the place with passion, it means investing in our juniors and pathways, it means getting more of our last great era players involved. We need people who bleed Manly.

I gave it a shot. Club emailed me to check contact details for auto renewal. I told them that I would only renew if Seibold was no longer at the club (wanted to cover football manager too).

Logically, everything you say is spot on.

My post is worded in a way that evokes the emotional.

Are these guys well credentialed coaches? Certainly not. But I dream of a Manly renaissance

I have the greatest respect for Matty Ballin, less so for Watmough but I do respect what he did in his playing years, but I have no doubt they’d make a reasonable coaching team.

But I would hate to see these two brought in and then inevitably spat out in 2-3 years when we haven’t had instant success.

For us to be super successful again we need the biggest build in our history , starting in our juniors , and all the way through , loads of cash , great systems , good coaches , building the Manly DNA.

Then we need a very rich benefactor ( or a number of them ) that can get us loads of 3rd party dollars so we can target big name players but still fit them into the legal cap.

Then we need a huge input of cash into our systems , look at what the Storm do and match it , so not just the $5 million from the NRL, think 10-15 million meaning the owner stumps up the difference or rich benefactors do.

Then we need to pinch the best recruitment team , pay them big dollars if we have to and it needs to include links into Queensland.

Then we can target a decent up and coming coach , who would bring with him new dynamic assistants.

Then with the systems right , the juniors running well & available funds we’ll start to attract big name players to supplement our juniors.

Then , and only then , will we be a force again.

I'm all in sign me up on 1 condition 10yrs contract on reduce wage, 1mil per-season and no performance cause involve. Been dying to quid my job for years, now I can retired happy ;-)

You may as well just give up now Mark. Sad to see from you

Understanding the core issues , and giving up are two very different things.

I have simply listed the pathway for us to become a super force again , the chances of it happening , ZERO.

In the meantime I live in hope that I’ll see success again before I’m dead.

Not sure though that you've done anything other than make a rich kid's wish list.

We'll never be the richest club again. Pretty sure though, that everything on your list is available to the Broncos according to your tales of their thoroughbreds and it hasn't got them to the top since 2006. We've won two since then!

We just need to find our own way
