Some fair points in this but he also has made a number of decisions which people are entitled to question.

You could also argue the lack of respect shown by DCE to announce his career plans on national TV shows a massive lack of respect for Seibold. DCE is a tool but a good coach that would not happen to

1. He has recruited players like Lodge / Brown / Waddell which are looking older and slower by the day. Shame on Brown as he has a go but he's a shadow of the player from a few years back.
2. He has extended a lot of the backs at overs. We have too much cash tied up in the backline with players like Saab and Koula
3. He has not done anything to improve our hooking situation. Croker ran NOT once against the Titans.

For Seibs to get any chance of winning this crowd back, he needs to make some hard decisions on a back or two (trust in lower paid backs we have that can do the job) - get rid of Saab and either Koula or Gaz. Free up some cash for a 9 , a prop and a second rower.

He's in his 3rd year as coach so yes, he should be held accountable for results (look at the dogs coach) and he is especially accountable for attitude.
If we are Fairdinkum about improving our roster properly through trading out a centre (Shoupp) then do it properly. Offer up Koula as he’s someone we may get a decent player in return for.

Here we go again. Letting it play out in the media is not the way forward. All it does is place an additional layer of pressure on everyone. I can see us completely imploding from here. It's eerily like the Broncos under Seibs; they scrape into the finals and the following year their defence turned to buggery and the entire club fell apart. We'd have been better keeping a lid on things. If the players read into all this media stuff, they'll start believing it and the confidence will only plummet more. Sad.

That’s nuts! He’s been one of our best and most improved players this year and also someone Manly has brought through from a young age. I’d hate to see Koula leave above almost anyone else

Maybe some of the media stuff is true and they need to hear it. Judging by the effort against the Titans, I’d say their confidence is already pretty low.

that's why I said 'only plummet more'. I get that some people are not worried if we win the spoon, but I'll be devastated. This sort of media noise usually coincides with disaster, not a kick up the backside as a catalyst for a climb up the ladder.

I actually like Koula as well. My point was more that we’d actually get something in return for him. Or for that matter even Garrick. Schoupp being thrown up for some dud forward ain’t gonna cut it.

I think we will all be devastated with a spoon (maybe except those who have taken the $151). Personally, it feels like this situation may require more than a kick up the backside to turn things around. Might be best to have a full on bloodletting and start again (while trying to avoid a spoon).

I wouldn’t sell Koula. His potential is untapped and his skillset suits the modern game perfectly. Needs to add a bit more movement before the line but once it clicks he could be one of our most talented players. I do agree we need some middle stocks but wouldn’t sell Koula or Garrick if they put him back on the wing.

the reality is though if we want to bolster stocks in the middle, we would need to give up something of value. Theres no way we get anything decent for guys like Schoupp or Faulalo.

I wouldn't trust NRL360 on what they said about the "transition". They're simply boosting their mate's stocks, in Ennis. Why didn't they say this previously in their "Manly in crisis" articles, when they brought up Ennis?

As for the actual news: Croker and Saab to play NSW Cup this week, Turbo moved to centres, Hoppa moved to fullback, presumably Garrick to the wing.

Those "seven minute interviews" don't sound like something Seibold initiated, judging from previous comments. I think someone above him has called for it. I can't help but think Penn is meddling here again.

That might create some whiplash.

We obviously have the bye this week, it'll be interesting to see if Croker and Saab return to first grade. That'll change where Garrick ends up.

On Croker and Saab, I imagine Croker if nothing else simply needs the minutes. This suggests the coaching staff badly wants him to play 80 against the Tigers so they are grabbing at match fitness. Saab, a little surprising. Maybe he too is a little short of a proper run? Last couple of weeks I just didn't think he was moving and accelerating quite as he normally does. I actually thought he started great against the Titans and was making Kelly's life a bit difficult. Then everything fell apart!! I suspect both return to the top grade against Tigers.

Something I really would do is tell DCE to take a few days off and go on a weekend with his family. He looks like he is playing busted, mentally, he needs a break.

On Seibold, for a few weeks I've felt like he is worried he has lost the dressing room, or may have done so. Very difficult problem to resolve. Well, unless you start winning, which is a cure for all ills. But I don't think this school-marmish lecture sheet behaviour is any answer! Problem is, who could we hand the poison chalice to, half a season in charge of a club in free-fall that just sacked its coach in a fit of panic and spite? Go that way and I reckon we really can make a space in the cabinet for that first Spoon. That is not the answer.

What an absolute f@#king clown show. This has Scott Penn's "leadership" from afar all over it. Seven-minute interviews? Assessment sheets listing each player's deficiencies as a rugby league player? Leaks to both the Murdoch press and Nine? Not even @God can help us out of this one.
