In regards to Kyle Flanagan, Phil Gould has declared that “He’s our highest-paid playmaker in the club, he’s ready.”

if that's true that's some ****house recruiting from the Bulldogs, given that Burton is reportedly on 500k

Gould has said that Barrett had to ask permission to pick Flanagan this week, lol:

Gould Says:

“It’s not Trent Barrett who has made a decision on when he comes back to first grade,” Gould told WWOS.

“Trent wanted him in the side, but he came and asked me for permission to do it. I could have easily said no if I didn’t think he was ready. I said yes.”

Gould also revealed that he had a two-hour meeting with Flanagan after the trials.

“I said at the moment, ‘I don’t think the NRL is the place for you, I don’t think you can help the team and you can’t help them at the moment. But we need to reset you career and that could mean some time in reserve grade’,” Gould said.

Exactly. You'd at least say something along the lines of "Trent asked my opinion on bringing Kyle in and blah blah blah after talking it out, we felt it was time for him to come back into first grade."

FTR, whoever made the decision to keep him in reserves the first few rounds was right. He was utterly thrown to the wolves last year. He's not the next Cronk but he's a far better player than he showed last season IMO. Very dumb to not give him at least 1 trial with Burton though.

Watching all these players leave us and go on to look far happier and playing far better at other clubs is a horrible, horrible sign for the Broncos. I legit think these players are just fed up with the constant arbitrary scrutiny they have to cop from the media at Red Hill and would rather not deal with it.

I think players just don't care about the broncos anymore. Dearden was a cows fan growing up, so he would have more loyalty to them than us.

Broncos keep getting juniors from all over Queensland, but they don't really give a **** or have any feeling towards the club, just happy to get a pay check, move through the junior development pathways and grab a bigger pay check when Brisbane media start spruiking them up.

We don't really have a junior catchment and even our reserve grade is just throw them across three different teams when they turn 18.
