Round 4 other games -2021

If we actually complete sets we prob have a good dig v warriors. Big if. Our basics have been so poor tho.

Roosters put 50 on us.Warriors going with them. D has been good given the six agains the roosters got in a row. They hardly touched the ball for twenty minutes.Wed have been blown off the park in that time.

Not sure where the confidence about going with them comes from. AFB out woukd be a bonus I suppose. Our edges will get monstered and outpaced as usual.Surely he can’t put Parker and Garrick out there again.

Need the roosters to really give them a going over in the second half to dent their confidence.

Just an aside, does anyone else notice that when games are televised at the SCG it always looks like they are playing in slow motion?.
is it something about the camera angles out there?.
I know with tennis it makes a massive difference where the cameras are. If they are flatter to the ground it looks like the ball travels much faster and further than if the cameras are higher up.

it’s either that or this game is as boring as bat****e compared to the game earlier, or both.

Round 4 other games ......

The resilient teams find a way to win

Des's team just keeps finding a way to lose

It looks to me that the officials want a Newcastle win.
The Vidiot taking the try off Illawarra smacked of corruption.
The ref is giving Newie six-agains like confetti and yet I don't think Illawarra has received one in the first half.
I think the six-agains ended up 9-1 to Newie. The ref definitely only looked at one side. Eventually the better side won, but it should have been by 20 points.

Well that sucked , I picked the Knights and then the Warriors for an upset and both lost !!

Oh well , that my footy tipping story most years.

Im not sure if there is another thread that raises this point. 18yo Sam Walker can get a start in first grade, in such an important position, and by all reports had a good game. Why isn't Des blooding our youngsters? Clearly Trent Robinson would.
Yep could easily have put Hutchison to half and had a makeshift 5/8 like Radley till Lam comes back but Robbo took the positive option. Kid will learn this year and be a star next year inside Keary, instead of wasting next year getting him learning.Lam will not play firsts again this year if no injury.

He has immense talent but built like a straw right now yet Robbo backed him.

If he was at Manly he’d be playing junior reps for sure while we get flogged each week.
The ONLY reason Shuster( who is older and physically huge) is even in our seventeen is the backrow injuries. Des showed us that in Rd 1. Once Sirro is back he’ll be turfed to Blacktown as our halves masquerading as “ hookers” don’t play 80.

Am I imagining it or are the teams in the bottom half of the ladder getting more 'six again' calls coming off their own try line, but still end up getting flogged?

Have all the teams in the top half of the table worked out that it is better to hold down the tackled player longer on tackles 1, 2 & 3 and risk or suffer a 'six again' call, just to ensure that the opposition can't get any momentum up even with a 'six again' call?

The bottom teams are trying in defence to avoid getting a 'six again' call and as a result the opposition is getting momentum up every set and flogging them?

Yep and we have wasted half of last season, the whole preseason and the first 4 games of this season. I know we have been talking about this for the whole of that time - blood the youngsters. But the latest evidence is how Robinson has managed Walkers debut. As you point out, with Des it would have been a makeshift in there, while Sam Walker plays reserve grade.

The thing that stood out to me in Walkers first game was that his team mates were all there to protect him. The senior players were around him every break in play talking to him.

I haven’t seen our senior players get around Schuster like that.
