Round 3 - Other games (2018)

REFEREES boss Bernie Sutton has admitted Wests Tigers were wrongly penalised during their golden-point thriller loss to Brisbane last night.

Sutton has told the Sunday Telegraph that Tigers backrower Robbie Rochow should not have been penalised which gifted the Broncos an easy penalty goal conversion to win 9-7 at Campbelltown Stadium last night.

“Ultimately the penalty is incorrect,” Sutton said.

“There are a couple of factors which contribute to what happened,” Sutton said. “Ofahengaue plays the ball on a slight angle which is partly caused by Rochow. Globaleagle of the Manly Silvertails forum posted a picture proving this today."

For all the effort the NRL is going to pandering for fans in our so-called 'Golden West' did you notice the crowds at ANZ and Campbelltown? Three of the four sides were from Sydney's west; the other was the Donkeys who supposedly have the largest following. Yet each match only drew 11,000-odd spectators!
This is pathetic, and another sure sign that western Sydney is not responding to the NRL's incentives.

Shocking penalty against the front marker who did get square.

Knights were far worse against us but no penalty.

Consistency?? Absolutely consistent in getting the pet teams over the line.

The problem is rectangular stadiums, if ANZ had one of those you'd get 60,000 every game.......says Toddy!

Not like Manly got anywhere with referees after they let Josh Reynolds start 5m offside chasing down DCE field goal attempt in that 2014 loss to the Dogs in semi a few years back. We got back from 17-0 down & should have been given the penalty goal in front of the posts and a win. Dogs got to the grand final.

canberra finally score and it only took 9 straight sets of 6 and one opposition player in the bin

If I was the Raiders' strength and conditioning guy I would be worried about my job right now. They had 85% position and a one man advantage for a good chunk of that first half, but by the end they looked totally gassed and we're practically begging the referee for field position.

The nine comentary team stuck it to the refs and NrL after the game.

As Gus Gould said.....no penalties for 7 minutes of GP despite both teams being offside on just about every tackle. Then suddenly when the Donkey's are 20 metres out dead in front of the posts Klein pulls that one out of his backside.

The NRL got the result they wanted.

Players must play the ball facing the try line.....

That is exactly what Andrew Johns said as soon as the penalty was blown. What about Milford not even facing goal to goal to play the ball? Very selective piece of refereeing.
