Respect the key with referees

Just some more dribble from NRL apologist Justin Hodges weighing on the debate about speaking out against the refs.

Because he has always shown respect..

The media and NRL going into overdrive to deflect the blame from the officials for the abysmal decisions we've witnessed recently only goes to highlight the fact that NRL headquarters has NFI. The issue isn't respect or the lack of it for referees, the issue is teams seasons being consistently decided by suspect decisions and perceived bias....I've just about had it with these amateur snow jobs.

These ex-players are paid employees of the NRL. Whatever their bosses tell them to say they will repeat what the PR person has written for them.

Respect is the key, and one of the main problems is the referees respect some players and not others. From what I can tell it seems to depend on which team colours they wear.

Never ever in the history if respect that if you treat people differently do your earn respect.

The players do go too far because they lack respect for the refs because the refs do not treat all players equally.

And you can start with harrigans dossier on which players shouldnt get the rub of the green because they are difficult , and end with would you like an ice cream with your kick for touch mr smith. Is this mark ok cameron or would you like a different angle

My very earliest memory of archer was him yelling at a player. You, you, come here. No come here, come here, player x come here. The player walks over to him and he yells now go away, go away with all the bravado and hand waving thata french referee practices in night clubs to pull the chicks.Ill never forget that ****

I think the refs are on a hiding to nothing and it needs to change but you can only fix it if you talk about the real problem

The constant rule changes, interpretations of the rules, the desire to keep fans confused to allow dodgy decisions to sneak through

And we havnt even talked about the refs favorite. Even steven, to even up the penalties in the second half, and for ffs the slow mo, the bunker and the dudes that oversee all if this need to be sent off

The nrls need for the clubs to just accept constant inequality, is the problem that the nrl and all its media partners are fighting, and they are pissing the fans off in a right royal way. Essentially they are calling us all whinging piss ants for knowing the game and having an expectation of a fair contest.

Well as fair as possible considering the draw, tv scheduling, 3 rd party, the judiciary, the howlers from the refs and the integrity unit

Fans get butt hurt but get over it , always have always will if its borderline fair, or have faith that the whole system isnt geared toward ****ing over some.

The problem is very few have trust in the NRL and the refs are on the front line. David smith was fair for the game and he was driven out of town by self interests with access to unlimited media . If that doesnt say it all then what does

The refs have no respect because their over reliance on technology makes them look weak and incompetent.
We see obvious trys that the ref and touch judge have clear views of still get referred to the vidiot every week. "I just want to make sure......." they say... make sure their eye's aren't painted on?
There was a clear example a few weeks ago in a canberra game where the ball was grounded 1 metre from the ref with a clear view and he still went upstairs.

I was wondering what the general view was in super league towards their refs. Never seem to here about bad calls, stuff ups, blatant bias. Would be interesting to find out how they fare. Maybe archer could learn something- after he's pulled his head out of wherever it currently is stuck

His arse in my opinion!

sCam, being the all encompassing figure of all that is great about the NRL, shows a fine example of respect to kids on a weekly basis, by getting in the refs faces and arguing the decisions that go against his team.

Way to go sCam.
Keep showing the way !!!

Hodges is the last person who should be commenting on RESPECT of match officials. He was one of the dirtiest players to lace a boot!!

The breathtaking hypocrisy that we have seen since Saturday where people are lining up to have a go at our club and the Sharks who both rightly feel aggrieved by the failing system we have now officiating the game.

I wait for them to screw up this weekend and affect one of the games pleayed. I dont not agree that much with Wayne Bennett, but he is spot on that the game is over officiated, too many cooks, the whole process needs to be simplified. and common sense to prevails like we had for 90 odd years.

I agree. Very rich coming from Hodges given that he was suspended for 2 weeks back in 2008 for rude hand gestures towards referee Tony Archer in a game after his team conceded a penalty..

Back then Eels CEO Denis Fitzgerald was adamant referees must be shown respect.

"Offensive gestures toward referees are in the same category as obscene words to referees,'' Fitzgerald said. "Referees have to be respected no matter how badly they have performed.''

Now the hypocritical cynt has the balls to come up with this bullsh*t article.. How quickly they forget..

Opinions like these from players, ex-players or coaches can be self-serving.

But are they that dim-witted that they think we have forgotten that they invariably have form on this front?
