RELEASED WTF? - viliame fifita and alec tuitavake

Tuitavake has been released so GCKT can get a top 30 spot. He was way down on the middles pecking order anyway, and it's unlikely he was getting a run anytime soon.

Fifita is a bit more problematic. He was probably next in line for a middle spot on the bench.

On the surface I think it's a bad move, but obviously something else is happening in the background, that we can't quite see yet? Potentially an acquisition from outside the club?
We will have to wait and see.

No inside knowledge but I say we are looking to bring in a specialist lock.
We are currently playing with 3 props on the field so to bring in a lock would be most fitting to complete our squad.
There is no way we would of released 2 contracted players without an immediate succession plan.

It cannot be to help promote Gordon into top 30 though? I thought he was in the top 30 isn't he? Im sure he was on the bench round 1 as a reserve in case of injury and warmed up with the team before the Bulldogs game

He was moved into the 30 the week prior to Rd1 and was 18th man for that match,so nothing to do with creating a spot for him

We where granted an exemption to promote Gordon into the squad for round 1 as Lawton was still coming back from an ACL. He is still on a development contract and was never promoted in the 30 before round 1

OK,there seems to be conflicting reports then regarding his status.I’ll endeavour to find where I read that he was moved into the top 30.I think it was through Tony Adams aka The Mole,who when questioned about it,quoted from Wayne Cousins

It still baffles me how we can't retain 2 players on minimum wage, yet the rorters can retain all their players and continue to sign top first graders and still have room in their sombrero.
I would've thought we had money in the cap after letting Tapau and Walker going who were both on big coin.
Hopefully the club knows what it's doing and there's light at the end of the tunnel.

DRAGONS SWOOP ON SEA EAGLES DUO

Anthony Griffin has pulled off a huge signing coup, reportedly landing two of the Ses Eagles most promising young forwards.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the Dragons signed front rowers Alec Tuitavake and Viliame Fifita after meeting with coach Griffin.

The duo, both 22, were in Manly’s 30-man roster and were seen as having big futures at the club.

The signgings are a big boost for the Dragons who had spots to fill in their own 30-man roster.

Both Tuitavake and Viliame Fifita reportedly want to switch to the Dragons immediately but Manly chief executive Tony Mestrov said no permission had been granted to date.

Not convinced tuitivake will ever not be injured, but I fear Fifita is a mistake to let go. I would get it if we simply didn’t have room, but my opinion is e have the wrong priorities with squad makeup and blind faith in those who have yet to step up despite numerous opportunities

Keppie, sipley, Ben turbo and Boyle were all more expendable and would have freed up more money in the cap.

Everyone thinking a big signing in the works... yeah, nah. We got poached. It happens. Dragons still filthy about Garrick and Saab. If they want to play for Dragons, fk them. Fifita already 22 and hasn't played a game in FG, Tuitavake hasn't been injury free in years.

Having said that, Condon makes Boyle look like Usain Bolt, and for some inexplicable reason, our club prioritises Condon, Boyle, and Sips as next men up over athletic and powerful juniors

I guess from the players' point of view, if you're not in the 17, why on earth would you want to soak in the blacktown experience when you could be somewhere a little greener (pun intended)?
