Realistically it's time to be realistic

What troubles me about many media commentators comments is the suggestion following Manly's wins this year that the opposition was not playing well, missing players, didn't have their mind on the game. Other sides such as Parramatta are lauded over when ever they win like the game against the Cowboys, despite being without Thurston. Manly have demolished South, the Cowboys (with Thurston) and the Dogs, all considered contenders, have beaten the Raiders and Roosters, both early favourites and almost defeated the Storm despite playing poorly. They have had hiccups along the way, but they deserve more recognition than I'm hearing from these supposedly wise windbags

If you look at our losses they were all due to our own self destruction. Poor ball control and discipline with penalties and in defense. We haven't been in a tight game with both sides playing well and lost yet which is a good sign. It means if we get everything right we can beat anyone. As bad as we played in 1st half against Storm we actually should have won the game if Kelly had've held the ball close instead of trying to reach over Slater to score.

It is disappointing that we savage our fellow supporters and posters. It is really bad form to personally insult a poster who after all are fellow supporters. Posting personal insults is inexcusable and responding with insults is just as bad. Time to stop taking the angry pills and get back to discussing football. When I firsted started reading this site there was very little of this personal stuff and it's now becoming an epedemic with an us against them divisiveness. Frankly it's boring and petty and spoiling the read. We are better than that!

Good point Tragic Eagles - I'll pull my head in, a bit.

Absolutely @Bearfax !! What highlights this, is the game that Nth QLD had three players out, yet we had Lussick, Taupau, AFB and Perrett all unavailable for selection (Lussick and AFB being our starting props last season - and Taupau being a starting backrower for us).

Yet Nth Qld were heavily under manned, and Manly wasn't - eergh....frustrates me.

You forgot to mention Snake and Skivvy in your list of unavailable for selection @Ryan

I think its all up for grabs in 2017.

We graduated from "would be a good year if we can sneak into the 8" to now "it would be disappointing to miss the 8 from here".

Keep winning 3 from every 5. Its that simple.

Panthers, Raiders, Warriors, Cowboys, Bulldogs, Eels are all teams that were tipped to do better than Manly this year, and they all sit behind us on the ladder.

The most pleasing thing really is that our 6th spot is on merit, we have been playing well. No reason at all this team won't continue to improve as the year rolls on, good times!
