If you shut your eyes during his commentary, you would not know what is going on. He basically just calls out last names; "Smith, Johns, now Jones" (late and wrong half the time) and often gets in a trivial argument with Gus on air. At least that is what he was doing 5 years ago when I stopped watching channel 9. Maybe the sound of his voice when he gets excited is what appeals to some.

I think Warren Smith is the best caller and closely followed by Matt Russell.

Vossy is probably the next best but he seems to think the match is more about his commentary first and the game 2nd. His ego takes over at times.

Warren Smith and the best comments man in Brandy Alexander are the best combination. Alexander craps all over just about everyone else as far as his insight is concerned.

Fox has it all over nine as far as their coverage.

I haven't had to watch nine in a couple of years and i've enjoyed the footy so much better.

And i'm surprised at how much i enjoy Michael Ennis. I hated that guy more than anyone on the field but he is very good off it.

Blocker just seems to be trying too hard to make his mark after getting flicked by 2GB. He should settle down a bit and just be more sensible. It would be better for him. He goes off like an idiot sometimes.

Danny Buderus has been quite good as well.

One thing I love about Rabby is that he has/had a mancrush on Skivvi. Got to respect that sort of bromance. Unfortunately it must never have been requited as Skivvi was always "Matai", and never ever reached "Steven" status during commentary.

I remember when Rex Mossop was commentating and started to make a load of mistakes, they finally realised he couldn't handle the role any further. No criticism of Rex. He was a great caller, loved his aside comments, best being when he wanted to take a 22 to an emu mascot.

But Warren has reached the same stage. He's making mistakes and making inane comments that show he's lost his edge. But the money people dont learn. They stick with them until it becomes embarrassing. They're doing the same with John Laws who has to be almost carried into the radio studio.

Time for a fresh face and voice, even some of the female leads showing up on Fox lately who are doing a pretty decent job. It really is, as another member has said, a Watmough blunder to give him another 5 years, even if not always as commentator. His Used By Date passed long ago.
