After reading Choppy's article today. Here's my guide to fixing it up.
Nine actually commentate's the game not the Gus and Rabs show on what's on Nine later.
The game's to be actually shot in HD and shown live FTA. The 4pm kickoff that people find out the result at halftime on tv is laughable we live in 2013 not 50's.
Another thing NRL dictate who's playing when - not tv yes we've got a fixed schedule finally!!! but it still doesn't stop Nine on putting the Broncos every Friday night know several broncos fans that won't be renewing because of this.
Even media - for so long we've seen so called writers or for a lack of a better word hacks with an agenda. Rothfield is the worst clearly aiming at Gus and Gus couldn't give a ****.
Fix lower grades - you have possibly the 3rd best comp in Qld Cup and the NSW Cup is finally getting fixed up and have it over the U20s. If it was me I'd run a combined comp with 2 divisions with promotion and relegation or a Challenge Cup style comp.
Each State runs a Challenge Cup comp (NSW is often played out between Newcastle, Central Coast and Illawarra) so lets televise it.
Keep u20's it's benefits far out weigh the negatives but it has to feed into the reserves.
Give Origin and Rep Footy its own weekend. After this World Cup there will be an influx of English, Welsh and French players. They could play this way
Friday
Fiji vs PNG
Samoa vs Tonga
Saturday
Northern Barbar's(team comprising of Northern Hemisphere Players) vs Combined Country at Newcastle or Townsville
Sunday
Auckland vs Counties
NSW vs QLD
Also in saying that after every World Cup year Lions tour playing these games
Lions vs WA,SA and VIC players (BJ, the Morris boys and a few others)
Lions vs Combined Country at either Newcastle or Townsville
Lions vs PNG
Lions vs Australia
Lions vs Pacifica
Lions vs Australia
Lions vs Indigenious
Lions vs Australia
Lions vs Auckland
Lions vs NZ
Lions vs Counties
Lions vs NZ
Lions vs Maori
Lions vs NZ
Bring France out - same tour.
Australia and NZ tour Europe. Emu's and NZ 'A tour America eventually bring them into the Pac Cup.
Run Pacific Cup every year.
When all clubs are running at a profit or in the black scale back the season to 22.
NRL reverts back to one ref and international rules - we've become formula 1 rugby league, two refs twice as many mistakes.
Every club to be transparent with memberships - its common knowledge that a certain club takes great 'pride' and lies about its membership.
NRL not to cheapen memberships ie past weekends it was cheaper to get tickets as a non member where's the incentive to be a member.
NRL not to focus on players for promos/ads - they've been burnt several times and been told repeatable times by the NFL not to do it.
Announce an expansion plan ie my personal preference Brothers, WA in 2017, CQld and Wellington 2019 (heartland, extended, **** if America shows enough interest there as well)
Only when we're NFL level or even AFL level consider Central Coast.
Manly gets whole of Northern Shore.
Nines keep it.
Allstars change it - Indigenious vs Pacifica - no experimental rules just simple league tribe vs tribe - what it would do for those communities would be huge.
Cheaper tickets, cheaper merchandise and tadah fans might be happy.
The $40 million question is this what will the ARLC do with the surplus it currently has?
I'd personally 'invest' it straight into bush footy or state league(WA,SA and VIC)
