I really can't see what all the fuss is about. There's 6 teams. if 6 teams comprise of lets say.... 30 players. That's 180 players.
There are elite rugby competitions around the globe. Super Rugby (Aus/NZ) Premiership Rugby (England) Top 14 (France) then there are teams from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Italy and South Africa that play in united competitions. There's also Japanese Rugby. That's 57 teams in total.
If you add NRL and Super league into the mix there are 86 teams. If they all have 30 players then that's 2580 Elite players worldwide.
If you consider that it's a Rugby Union competition that rules out most Rugby League Forwards. And given that wingers and bull backs kick regularly and accurately in Union that pretty much rules them out.
The only positions that are really viable without proper training are backrow/centre to play in the centres and half/hookers to play scrum and flyhalf.
I just can't see too many going.
