Queensland favourites?

Journey Man
Why are Queensland raging hot favourites for SOO. Yes, they have a "gun" backline - ON PAPER. But the way things are going, Queensland are not going to pick to form which means:

The so-called star backline wil be populated by players not performing. Of the likely backline, only Thurston is performing consistently well. Lockyer has an injury cloud, Hunt is over rated, Tate is Bennett's love child and Inglis and Hodges have been surprisingly quiet and uninvolved over the last 4-6 weeks.

And the NSW backline are no mugs AND they are finding form. On form you could make a case the NSW backline is currently better performed.

In the forwards there is no doubt NSW are far stronger on paper.

The only concern for NSW at the moment is the uncertainty over 6 & 7.

Half and five eighth are important positions and have more impact than most. Why was there talk of Joey playing Origin this year, prior to his injury. You make a good poiint though.

Bottom line is that no matter how players are going, they do a Filipaina when selected for QLD. The need of Northerners to get one over the Socialist Southerners is so iimportant they grow an extra arm and leg.

I hope everyone keeps talking them up... NSW will win... Graham Murray is smart enough to know how to play this series.. the blues forwards will dominate and the "superstar backline" will be kept quiet.

The can have all the attack they want.. fact is Matt Cooper, Jamie Lyon and Matt King are probably the best defensive backs in the comp.

I just hope Qld pick Turncoat Carroll and the myth that is Carl Webb

Can't beleive that after 2 tackles 2 years ago Webb is still talked about as some sort of intimadating hardman. He has done nothing since, except throw a couple of punches

He wasn't last year

2 games behind the Cane Toad Curtain is probably the biggest factor.

For the Series NSWTAB has Qld @ $1.55 and NSW @ $2.35. I am sure Qld were shorter earlier this week (around $1.48).

Lockyer injury will be worrying but both teams seem to have strengths - Blues in the forwards and Qld in the backs.

I don't think there is much in it but Qld deserve about $1.75 favoritism and I'm going for the Blues anyway.

QLD play two games at home and that generally decides the series. NSW gave up home ground advantage last year and paid the price - QLD are yet to do the same but Origin is normally biased in their favour anyway.
