I actually agree with this selection. He's too far down the back rower pecking order to start and if you put him on the bench you want explosive impact, which he hasn't been showing as much of late. Better to pick Barnett.

What annoys me is how badly he f**ked his bench selections for game 1. It didn't end up mattering though because the game was over the moment Sua'ali'i was sent off.

I think you gotta bring Humphries in if he's a right side half, despite him leaving next year. He'd have something to prove and I think he deserves a chance. Hell, if he can help us get the 2 points don't care what he's doin next year !

Maybe but the positions defend next to one another anyway. Plus not playing in Nth Qld heat would help. I think it was pretty warm up there. Also the ball was in play for long periods on Sat night.

After both NSW 2nd rowers were so dominant in game 2 so you can't really plan to sub them out by having another specialist 2nd rower on the bench. It's just horses for courses.
Hopefully Haumole can play for Manly (ie not made 18th man)(I suppose 18th man ideally should be someone more versatile, to cover back or forward)

Burton is 18th man so no worries there to cover for best !!

I think the only way he can’t play is if he is 18th man. The 18th man should be Burton however he will replace Best if he fails fitness test. So 🤷‍♂️

Best passed his scan and he is good to go, Burton still 18th man , that's good for Manly

I think both NSW and QLD have picked the best possible teams. It would have been a mistake for QLD to pick Fifita or Papalii, and a mistake for NSW to pick Turbo.
Both teams need fitness, speed and work rate in their players.

I said before SOO 1 that I didn't think Mole or Jake for that matter were agro enough for SOO. Pity Madge didn't drop Jake too.

Agree entirely. I've said it for ages, Mole is not cut out for SOO - at least not yet. Far too inconsistent and passive in attack with his runs. For Origin you need to be going at a million miles an hour for most of the game and he just can't or won't do that. He did have a good game against the cowboys but I think for the moment he's better suited to club footy.

Not going to debate the issue of whether Jake should be in the SOO team or not. What annoyed me about Geyer's view was the way the media reported it. It was all: "Blues Legend Calls for Captain to be Sacked". Blues Legend, eh? It might surprise a few but Geyer played 3 SOO matches. That's right, 3. And won 1 of them. Jake has played 18 SOO matches and won 10 of them. I think that makes him more of a "Blues Legend". Not bagging Geyer himself as he was a fearsome player and is entitled to his view, but the media think everyone is a stupid as they are.

It’s the usual lazy click bait junk that passes for journalism these days where everyone is a legend or star.
