The Queensland Rugby League has named the following line-up to face NSW in the opening game of the 2018 Holden State of Origin series:

1. Billy Slater
2. Valentine Holmes
3. Greg Inglis (c)
4. Will Chambers
5. Dane Gagai
6. Cameron Munster
7. Ben Hunt
8. Dylan Napa
9. Andrew McCullough
10. Jarrod Wallace
11. Gavin Cooper
12. Felise Kaufusi
13. Josh McGuire

Interchange:
14. Michael Morgan
15. Josh Papalii
16. Coen Hess
17. Jai Arrow

Surprised no Boyd and no Scott (but likely he would have been suspended anyway).

On paper the NSW team has is more dynamic with in-form players, but the Qld backline is very experienced and proven winners.
I don't understand picking Turbo out of position especially when you have a ready-made winger in Cotric.

Agreed.
I am happy though that the NSW fullback selection policy is down to 2/17 instead of the previous 5/17.

As if last years snubbing wasn't proof enough, we now know that unless they have an injury crisis, DCE's Origin career is pretty much dead and buried.

Unfortunately for Cherry, Qld continuing to snub him also all but kills his chances of ever getting another Kangaroos jumper.

Still, I'm happy to have him run out in the real maroon (and white) each week.

So who's their goal kicker, none of the players selected are current goal kickers for their NRL teams

I agree with you, but if DCE was in and they are beaten badly, he'd get all the blame. No doubt about it.

Much better for him to come in at a later stage and be part of the solution. NSW looks the better team this year, but you never know with Origin. If their halves get munched, DCE will be in the box seat.

Sadly that's the truth, he would get blamed. According to them he was the sole reason they lost the series in 2014. It didn't matter that for the only time in over a decade the Qld forwards got dominated. It didn't matter that they forced Cherry to play an organising role that he is not suited to (a fact Mal Meninga confirmed last year when he said they failed to use him correctly). It didn't matter that NSW played to somewhere near their potential for the first time in a decade. It was 100% Cherry's fault that they lost.

If NSW do it right they could easily go on their own decade of domination (and if they do watch the hypocritical, fair weather Bananabenders cry about how Origin is dead) because there doesn't seem to be the same talent coming through from Qld that NSW currently has. And if Cherry was part of it and they did lose, he'd be the scapegoat.

That's who I figured, so it's still hogwash that the selectors have it in for DCE.

Kevvie must be hoping they score all their tries and get penalties close to the posts.

The DNA and QLD spirit will prevail

Qld dna is getting awfully similar.

Something else Queensland has in common with the royals of old.

Easy to play footy with 2 heads I guess.

On what planet is Gavin Cooper a better player than Matt Scott.

Scott at age 50 would be a better option than cooper.

This selection by Walters proves why he can't get an NRL job. Remember last year he thought Boyd was a better player than Slater. I'd say he has taken way too many hits to the head.

I bet Scott plays Otigin 2, because QLD will get belted in game 1.

Kev reckons that Scott is carrying a leg injury, plus there is the unknown of the Judiciary challenge 😎

sCam's game control is the biggest skill that Qld can't replace 🙂
