IT wasn’t flashy but the Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles’ 26-22 win against Tweed Heads yesterday was enough to keep them in the Queensland Cup top six.

Sunshine Coast pipped the Seagulls with four minutes remaining on the clock to notch an important win coming into the business end of the season.
A loss would have dropped the Sea Eagles to eighth on the ladder heading into this weekend’s bye.
With a guaranteed two points next round from the bye, the Sea Eagles could jump as high as third if results go their way.
Sunshine Coast halfback Daly Cherry-Evans said he was relieved to get the victory after a long trip south.
“I’m just happy to get the win at the end of the day,” he said.
“It was ugly but at this end of the year it doesn’t matter. We just needed the points with the bye coming up.
“We were behind all day and we got them with four minutes to go.
“It wasn’t pretty at all. We let them get away but we fought well to catch up.
“A loss will put you out of the six and you could almost lose touch with the teams coming home. It was important for us to get the win.”
Maa Ruua and Vic Mauro crossed for Sunshine Coast in the first half as the Sea Eagles trailed Tweed Heads 12-10 at the break.
But a second try to Ruua and a Darcy Lussick double enabled them to sneak home for the four-point victory.
Cherry-Evans said the Sea Eagles never dropped their heads and made sure they kept themselves in the contest.
“We stuck around and didn’t let them get out of reach, which was important,” he said.
After the bye Sunshine Coast will face competition leader Norths at Bishop Park on August 7 in the round’s televised match.
