I watched a game live there in about 98 or 99 when we had such stars as Alf Duncan on the wing with Alby Torrens as our gun centre. We put up a good fight but were outclassed and did not handle the conditions. It was wet (isn't it always in bleak city!!) it was misty, though it did strike me that there was not a lot of atmosphere there. My Melbourne friends, uneducated in League couldn't understand the fuss and wondered why half the crowd were Kiwis, or Rugby fans down to watch the international at the MCG the next night!!!
