prove me wrong

Is there a reason I have to play by your rules? The lady in the video articulated it far better than I could. Does that mean I don’t deserve to share her view? The video isn’t that scary, I’m sure you can get through it.
1) Time efficient - I can read a few sentences in seconds, how long do videos take to watch?
2) It's actually your opinion I'm interested in, not some random video makers

But if you think western culture is in terminal decline but are unable to or couldn't be bothered to tell me why, eh, whatever!

FACT: Utah Gov. Spencer Cox has publicly said on the record ‘it’s very clear to us and investigators that this was a person who was deeply indoctrinated with leftest ideology’. This is what his close friends & family told investigators.

@manlyfan76 looks like your conspiracy about Kirk being targeted for speaking to Gay & Jewish people was complete dribble…

I actually think you might find the video enlightening, if you view it with an open mind.

To me the ugliest part of all this apart from the cold blooded murder that this is, is a lot of the social media responses from people who think they are are sane contributors to society celebrating this murder. This is incredibly disturbing and shows that there are fundamental issues in society about how to navigate differences of opinions. It appears debate has descended into tribalism at its primitive worst! What’s even more tragic some of these people actually believe they are virtuous progressives’s. This kind of tribalism in history has been proven to be deadly.

If any good comes from this, perhaps some of those progressives might start questioning what they are being told.

Yeah I've seen reports of people getting sacked from their jobs as a result of such comments.

and noting that @Brookie - who in this thread has commended free speech as a cornerstone of our way of life 'mainstream values' ... disapproved someone's words in the RIP thread (which was actually a catalyst to my starting up this discussion thread) ...

I'm wondering what people think about 'free speech'... or what limits (if any) you believe should be imposed on free speech?

As you are well aware, I took exception to what I saw as disrespectful posts in the RIP thread, whilst welcoming that debate/discussion in a more appropriate thread. No threat to free speech there, just looking for a basic level of respect.

Sure. But you do agree with censorship to some degree, don't you?

Yes, you are 100% correct. Celebrating the murder of someone like Charlie Kirk would never have occured 30 years ago.

Maybe so. Also would you have imagined this 30 years ago one of the highest rating shows in the US would have its leading personality advocate killing homeless people as a good way to deal with them? Yet it happened just a day or so ago

Honestly, I never liked the highly edited approach he used when debating people (in terms of the videos that were presented). I often found his style to be in less than good faith. That said, at least he went out there and had a crack.

As for those celebrating or enjoying his death, that is beyond tasteless. As I mentioned when posting in the Trump thread, I’m no fan, but I would never wish for him—or anyone—to be killed.

The U.S. is at another tipping point. It is incredibly sad that, even while a manhunt is still underway, assumptions are already being made about who the attacker was from a left or right perspective. On top of that, the President has chosen rhetoric that inflames rather than calms the situation.

If there were genuine care, he would have acknowledged Melissa Hortman and her husband, who were murdered. Instead, what could have been a moment for meaningful action has once again been reduced to political point-scoring, creating even more danger.

One pundit put is best. Political assassinations are like cancer that will spread unless there is some true leadership...something I think that is lacking in the US now.
Exactly. It highlights Trump’s lack of leadership.

He’s supposed to be the most powerful man in the world yet the example he provides is pathetic.

Understand! From my perspective I am not saying people should not be able to express their views or there should not be free speech. It’s probably good that we know what people are really thinking so it can be addressed. If we shut down free speech this kind of thing goes further underground and likely becomes worse and more importantly the opportunity to address disappears.

Supposed to be? He is the most powerful man in the world!
The leadership he provides is pathetic if you are looking for a leader to bring people together, but it's clear (to me anyway) Trump is not trying to do that. He sees benefit to the country (being kind, or more realistically, to himself and his billionaire cronies) in stoking fear, division and social tension.

Seriously? A conservative is shot dead while engaging in a good faith debate with people of opposing views, and it’s Trumps fault?

As to “billionaire cronies” you keep bringing up, you are aware there are plenty of billionaire and multi millionaire cronies on the leftist side as well? Are they the good kind of cronies?
