I agree that we have some issues with our Props but I don't necessarily think that spending money on someone new is the best way to go.
King, Kite, Rose and Mauro are the current rotation, with Robinson, Cross, Cunningham, Palau and Moujali as back up.
In my view, King is in the best form of his Career. He's not making as many of those dumb errors that used to give away penalties and he looks to be trying to impose himself on the game with strong defense. Unfortunately Kite hasn't been able to regain the good form he had 2-3 yrs ago and really shouldn't be in the side anymore. It's only Des's loyalty that is keeping him there.
Rose is looking better & better with each game and with him it's all about his fitness. He's got the ability to be as good as any prop in the game, it's just his conditioning that holds him back. Mauro is a solid performer and the type of player that Des likes to have in the 17. Like Bryant, Hall & Williamson before him, however I'd like to see him develop a different skill set, something that sets him apart from the others. Of the other 3 guys I mentioned, the only one to do that was Hall. He developed a very strong running game that that made him hard to stop anywhere in the field, particularly close to the tryline where he became a specialist at bulldozing his way over the line. I'd like to see Mauro become a real hitter in defense similar to David Gillespe whose smaller size enabled him to get up into the ribs of the opposition players.
Robinson has impressed in the few opportunities he's had and I'm keen to see Cunningham, Moujali and Palau get a chance. As for Cross, I've never had that bad of an opinion of him and I'd like to see him get another shot. Des seems to have made up his mind though and I can see him being released when his contract is up.
So..... overall, I think we're quite well served for props and even though Snowden would be great, the $300,000 - $400,000 he would cost should be used to lock up Hoppa, Foran and Oldfield.
