Very sad what has happened to that once very powerful club , on top of that you also have the Steeler factor . Had a long coversation with Bob Milward 11 years ago , back when Nathan Brown was coach . He told me they wanted to change coaches but " the other mob " ( St George ) wanted to stick with him . So even back then Illawarra wasnt getting much of a say . Sure they had success in the Bennett years , but very poor forward planning , the fact that a lot of players retired at the same time or left didnt secure them a good future .
