Presser on Right Now

I'm not that angry about being knocked out (we were never really a premiership side this year) and I take some comfort in the fact that we were knocked out as the better side on the day.
My real anger comes from the continued deterioration of the game by the NRL.

Exactly right. That Peachy decision was nothing short of match fixing by the officials, and is just the culmination of a season in which you would see the officials skew at least 2-3 matches per week. The game is rotten to the core.

Without assuming this was a (series of) deliberate act(s) of match fixing (and I don't think I'm quite there yet) it was an appalling performance by the refs. How can the NRL continue to pretend they are improving the game through crap like the bunker?

Sorry, while I think the "rub of the green" was against us tonight and a different butterfly flap could have seen us win through... the two no tries against us were understandable, though difficult to swallow. The Peachey try was controversial and the ref needs to explain his thought process behind sending it up as a try. However, we did not play well enough in my opinion. We were poor and didn't adjust to what we should have known was coming. Yes, the refs were crap and need a bollocking, but more importantly, we were poor and let ourselves down tonight.

Hi HK I think we will just have to agree to disagree. I agree we didn't put in a dominant display, we made too many errors etc..and normally I'm of the view of saying that if you play well enough you take the reff out of the equation.. But there were periods there where we were destroying Penrith.. Whilst the panthers looked better at controlling the game than manly, the refs outdid them all by controlling the outcome! The panthers got the "rub of the Greenturd". It's a real travesty that in this day and age and at this end of the season that refereeing can still be a major talking point of a game..

Personally, I'm glad Barrett had a rant. We used to criticise him for being to bland, too nice, and not seeming to care enough.
He showed passion for the club and players which I'm happy to see.
The riff out-enthused us in some areas last night but Manly's class plays would have got them home had decisions been fair. Two 50/50 and one not even close to right to go against Manly is a hard way to go out.
I was also livid just on half time when the panther ball player hurled himself at the marker and they blew the whistle for a penalty goal.
That was ridiculous.
Tv coverage really annoys me after a contentious game when they act like the winning team performed a heroic win.
I with Trent and Cherry. Penrith were enthusiastic and did well. In a fair competition Manly should have got the points.

What a farking joke blaming refs and the bunker. Yes, agree 100% they were poor, but not as poor as our boys playing in a finals match. The rub of the green went against us, but again we capitulated and let this excuse our performance. Not good enough. You wanna win a premiership then get that shiiite right out of your psyche. We were poor by our higher standards... very poor. We did not respond well enough to adversity. Hopefully, a good learning experience for next year
Those decisions going against manly are momentum changes to be overturned after the ref giving try and the bunker overturning are game changes
The game was a lot of what if's
I agree we didnt play as good as we could have but" if " the call goes our way well who knows
I take it your point play better complete the 1% 's and you overcome the bad decisions
But sometimes overcoming those obstacles are a difficult task after the momentum keeps changing

It erks me because they are such a shi7 team they didnt trouble us at all they got a lucky ricochet try off the post and peachys drop in the slips try other then that they have no attack ! Our ball handling was atrocious too which didnt help
Exactly. Thats what pisses me off. Their attack all year has never worried us. We are our own worst enemies. Didn't handle the greasy conditions as well as panthers tonight. Limited our off loads and variety in attack. That was the difference and cleary had the superior kicking game.

If We got a few more off loads away and played a little more upbeat with a better kicking game we win that easily.

Imo still should of won it. Panthers are crap

Good to hear Flanagan back Trent up, then get stuck in himself.
