Thanks Maxta ..... sounds about right ..... the good news is I think we have a good squad and a fair number that will be knocking on the door for an opportunity ....... for example I think Joel Thommo will be hard pressed to keep his starting position .....

PSSS .... if correct ... how would you like to be Cronulla with $800k in Dugan warming the bench ...

No way we put a rookie halfback at 9 with nobody on the bench to rotate with him. Moronic.

Keppie will be in as well. Over time as the year unfolds, Hopoate will make his way in at some point. Once he gets in I can’t see him losing his spot.

I’d love to see Schuster make his debut as well. Like I always say - he’s the best young player coming through I’ve ever seen.

Going from last years performances Boyle to me has not sized up to his size and the Younger Keppie has shown to have more mongrel in him

The number 9 is the $ 64 question .Can Cust cut the mustard at Hooker ? Who can ? Time will tell

Parker has proven to be a competent centre but there is no substitute for killer pace or
blockbusting power out wide IMO and it will be interesting to see what Musgrove , Hoppa and Funa have to offer next season .

I am expecting Big Haumole Olakau’ata to make an impact . A Big impact !!!

I also dont think that list of players will be all she wrote . Some surprises to come

Based on the above, top 4 contenders likely to be ??

Canberra are stronger with the addition of the pommy test half (presuming he can cut it in the NRL) and the sting of losing this years decider will fuel them - they might even be early favourites.

The Scum have a stable squad and it really comes down to Scam's level of motivation as to whether they go deep into finals.

Flanagan has big shoes to fill at Bondi, if he can do that then with a pretty much unchanged squad they will be competitive. Remains to be seen if Mitchell can sort out his contract dramas though. The other battle they will have will be finding desire after back to back titles.

As much as I hate to say it the Eels look strong with the addition of RCG and Matterson, plus a full season with Waqa Blake. If Moses maintains consistency then they will be strong.

Broncos have a beast of a pack with Haas, Fifita, TPJ, and Lodge. Bench depth good too. Halves let them down though, so if that somehow clicks they'll be tough. Not sure how well Seibold is fitting in up there though.

Not a lot to get excited about with the rest of them. I expect Rabbits to drift down as their pack lacks a bit of experience without Burgess and Sutton.

We should be top 4 at full strength, hooker is the weakness though if Fainu doesn't play.

Titans back to back spoons

Keppie is ahead of Boyle and Paseka in my view. I'm not sure you could rely on Cade Cust to play 80 minutes at hooker either, so I think we will try and find a utility for the bench.

Agree that expecting Cust to go 80 mins won't happen ..... I raised the point some time back that GoJetSki would be an interesting choice of backup hooker ... (ala Radley) ..... energetic and robust, and on the bench anyway .... a possibility perhaps .....

Only in your mind

No AFB or Jurbo to start the year though. Waddell and Keppie into the starting team?

I definitely agree Boyle drops off the pine and hopefully there will be a hooker starting in place of Cade with him pushing to the bench.

Instead of who?
Boyle was a Silvertails whipping boy last season but I suspect Des will persist with him, for a while at least.
Keppie is the next cab off the rank in my opinion, based on a couple of top showings in the finals.

Who was the back up hooker meant to be even before Manese’s scandal broke out?
We may not have a Harry Grant or Bailey brother as back up but hopefully a legitimate back up hooker was going to make our top 30?

I hope we see more of Kermit in 2020.
So much heart, a great work ethic and energy when Lachy played this year..
