This Manly attack
Almost like U 8's when you know who is getting the ball.
Most teams have players in motion pushing up with the ball.
There are switches of play and various trick shots to keep the defence guessing....
I will stick solid and watch every game regardless...let's play some footy though please...make it interesting for us supporters....

Have we seen a chip kick or a move from the scrum since Twenty took over?
If so, I can't remember one.

I want to see our halves develop moves that bring our lethal weapon into play. When Tom Turbo turns it on, he creates havoc for defences. He was by far our best against the vermin and we need to use him. I think our left edge attack will be good as Kelly has something good to offer and if we get a quality winger on that side, things can improve further.

Under 7s coaching works for parra
" get it to semi, get it to frenchy ".
They just rely on Norman Bates to get it there.

I'm thinking it's time to try DCE at 5/8. It should give him a little more space and latitude to try things. Green has not impressed me and is definitely not the Messiah. Try Hastings at half and give him the goal kicking duties. On paper we have a good, speedy backline but there is no flow. We need to change things up now, rather than become demoralised with more losses.
Onto the forwards, where they are fewer options because of suspensions and injuries. I'm disappointed with Sironen and Frankenstein. Both of them have perfect bodies for the second row - tall, athletic and big. They look strong, but don't get involved enough. Let's hope they haven't caught the She-Rex syndrome. We'll have to stick with these two and hope they muscle up because there is no other option until we get some troops back.
On to another aspect: our penalties. We have coped a beating in both games to date at Brookie, resulting in having around 40% of possession. Are we really that ill-disciplined or are we victims of biased refs? If we can't win a penalty count at home how badly will be canned in opposition territory?
We have virtually a new team, so when players come from other clubs do we teach them to give away penalties? On the other hand, why do the Donkeys always win the penalty count?

Who ..... those first 4 sentences are Gold....
I hope Trent reads them because will change the flow of Manly's attack and more importantly - the results.....
Sometimes the BIG calls are needed and you have them 100% imo.

There's no way they'll dump Green imo.
That was an interesting (and scary) stat Vossy said the other day about Green. Coming into the game yesterday, Green was on his 24th loss in a row (25th now!) when not partnered with Cronk!😱

Was watching some of the better teams play over the weekend and noticed that their players are already in motion before they receive the ball. They also get the ball a bit deeper thus giving them the room to run the ball and create doubt.

Then there's us where we get the ball and have the opposition up in the players' faces as soon as they get the ball and that too at a standstill. In 2011 our backs were running on to the ball with room to move. It's not just a problem from dummy half but also when our backs or front rowers get the ball from our halves too.

One thing I noticed yesterday, and its something that has crept into the side (sorry, but this is true), since Tooves took over as coach.

Our line speed is woeful. On wide TV shots yesterday it was as clear as day. By the time our ball runner had got to the advantage line, the Souffs line was only around 2 metres away, and it wasn't like last week when they were allowed to be offside at every tackle. Their line speed was just that good for the most part. Once their attack got rolling and their confidence was up, their defense stepped up gave us no peace out there.

Though that isn't all down to the line speed. Its also the slow, sloppy work we are subjected to from dummy half which blunts our attack just about every tackle.

Compare that to our line speed in defense. By the time their ball runner hit the advantage line, we had only moved up about 3 or 4 metres. And our line STILL has this bad habit of stopping before the ball runner gets there. Its one of the things that allows opposition teams to move the ball to the edges easier, because our forwards in the middle are often damn near flat footed in defense.

All of that, while making it hard for us to make metres unless a break is made, does nothing but gift the opposition easy metres.

We put 3 quick tries on the rabbits so we can obviously score points. We just aren't playing for 80 minutes.
Hate to say it Pontian - but Souths lacklustre opening 15 minutes was as bad as our last 65 minutes.
Simply not awake and convinced any other NRL team would have opened out to a similar scoreline early....difference being, they would have went on with it....

You don't think the first 15mins had anything to do with being full strength...? As the bench players began to come on things started to change and the game evened up.

Personally I thought we were in the game up until the 65mim mark. Then fatigue kicked in ... in my opinion due to having no bench rotation props.
Souths didn't have to work real hard tackling Kennedy, brown and Bainbridge. In comparison their bench was monstrous... and that fatigued our guys and we didn't fatigue theirs.
But that's just the way I saw it.

Agree that we do come in and out of games though. Same with parra last week. Same last year.... remember the Panthers collapse... 🙁

On that note, Lawrence started the game outstanding as our strongman
Fact is Souths were sluggish to start and really....instead of crushing them, basically let them back in cheaply....and played them back into the game....you could feel and visibly see their confidence grow - we gave them energy through lack of killer instinct.
Cullen created 2 turnovers by getting up in their face aggressively, as the smallest bloke on the park so these missing big blokes has some merit, but really...it was simply poor commitment out there.
No doubt some bigger bodies mid half would have been handy, but if ever Manly had a chance against a team OFF their game....that was it...

watching green play makes me think of 09 when chris bailey was playing 6 alongside orford.... chris bailey........

let me ask you this, if roosters hadnt punted hastings, and instead manly poached the young talented half from them, would we have signed green still??? the answer in my books is a resounding no... just because the circumstances around hastings coming to manly wernt ideal, it doesnt mean we have to keep playing green just because we bought him first....

nothing will happen with this attack until we have a creative half working with dce to torment the opponents defence... simply having an average journeyman in the role to do nothing but "steady" the attack will bring nothing but average games imo

imagine putting on 3 tries in 15 minutes with predictable under 8's attack against fresh defence.
It was actually weak disinterested defence more than fresh defence...
Did this magic attack suddenly stop after 15 minutes....or was it more Souths actually lifted from that point and only allow 1 try for the remaining 65 minutes??

Yes, watching the warriors v scum. The scum were up so fast in line speed. Blustered the Warriors into panicked mistakes. I watched the Saints v filth yesterday, Parra where up, but some of those wide angles shots showed them way offside!....but they are the new NRL darlings I suppose.
*** Just a question for those who would know. How is a club (Parra) who had all the salary cap rorting going on last year are now in a position to buy up big!?

Not sure how much fresher you can get than the first 15 minutes but ok if you say so.

about 20 minutes in we went to our small bench which didn't help
