Pre-Game Discussion - Manly V Tigers [Round 17, 2025]

And don't forget the ridiculous bunker call on that so called push, nudge, by Saab on his opposite to deny us a fair try.
I've refrained from commenting on the Clunker for most of this season. Having railed against this technology since its inception a decade ago I feel like a Hasidic Jew must at the 'Wailing Wall'... banging my head against it yet nothing changes.
For the record: The Clunker has made rugby league a worse spectacle. It ruins much of this great sport we love.

It does my head in. In the absurd pursuit of eliminating any grey areas/nuance from the game, the bunker has decided that when 2 players jump into the air to catch the ball, in the nanosecond after a catch is completed, the other player immediately becomes a defender and any touch of the catcher is deemed an illegal tackle in the air. All in the time it takes to almost complete a thought. And every time it happens, the commentators say how ridiculous it is and how the rule must be changed. Rinse and repeat. I look forward to a Grand Final being decided by Chris Butler interpreting the thoughts, motivations and objectives of a mid air rugby league player in that critical sub second time period.

Another whacky one was To'o in the SOO, being penalized for having his arms around Coates after failing to gather the ball, then on the way down from a body length high, his arms brushed Coates. Gould also went balistic about this too.

Yeah, that was equally bad, and they’ve been plenty of others. I’m fairly sure the original rule was brought in to protect players from being tackled mid air, which is fair enough, but somewhere along the line the bunker has decided a tackle is any touch, no matter how slight, and no matter how unavoidable it is as a natural consequence of competing for the ball. Taken to its logical conclusion, the “tackler” must somehow disappear as soon as he fails to make the catch, in order to avoid a penalty.

Well, what about in Round 7 when we had these same two incompetent clowns officiating in the same positions as last night. They penalised and sin binned Sipley for a Hip Drop on Dragon's Matt Feagai when Sipley was unconscious and falling to the ground after collecting a Dragons players shoulder and Sipley was then forced off for an HIA. That's the game when Sipley was referred straight to the Judiciary and copped a 4 week suspension for Dangerous Contact (Hip Drop). Brown had to come on in place of Sipley once his sin bin was over because Sipley was still being assessed under the HIA Protocols.

Agree Jethro, why we didn't fight Tofs charge is just bewildering.

What have we got to lose? We need a cleanout this week I think Seibold should permanently excise DCE from the squad, drop Croker to NSW Cup, bench Brooks and Jake, and bring Walsh in as our starting seven, inside Turbo.

Manly People will always support our Club but will never support all the ones that keep failing to live up to its Pinnacle Status and the ones making excuses for the ones that are accountable for our current Mediocre standing
So who exactly are you currently (and still)(and always) supporting in the club??

Well, at least this thread should be mercifully free of posters confidently predicting the huge number of points we'll be putting on this week's sub-standard opposition…
