From the Manly Sea Eagles website, here is the ' Rd 1 Sea Eagles Injury Update' released on Thursday, 16 January 2025:

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles hooker, Lachlan Croker, will miss the start of the 2025 NRL season as he recovers from knee surgery.

The 28-year-old had arthroscopic surgery to his left knee before Christmas and is recovering well.

Croker is expected to be available for selection in Round 4 of the new season.

From the 'NRL 2025, Injuries, Suspension Return Dates, Casualty Ward and Key Information for the 2025 NRL Telstra Premiership Season' web page, Here is the Latest NRL Injured or Unavailable Update:

* * * (Updated: Sunday, 16 March 2025) * * *

Scans have cleared Manly stars Tom Trbojevic and Daly Cherry-Evans of serious injury.

The pair left the field during Friday night's loss to the Warriors,
Trbojevic with hamstring tightness and Daly Cherry-Evans back spasms.

The fullback has avoided any muscle damage and will continue to be monitored throughout the week before a final decision is made on his availability for Sunday's clash with the Raiders at 4 Pines Park.

Sea Eagles officials are confident both
Trbojevic and Cherry-Evans will be cleared to feature in the match.

  • Daly Cherry-Evans (Back, Round 3)
  • Tolu Koula (Corked Thigh, Round 3)
  • Sio Siua Taukeiaho (Knee, Round 3)

Any news on Talau and Brownie, not listed anywhere. Thsnks Jethro.

Canberra is not the team to play touch footy against

Lining up against Weeks and hoppa will be interesting

There centres will test our defence out wide. Strong ball runners
Hoppa wont be selected for 2 reasons:

1) Savage will be back from his 1 game suspension; and
2) He was poor against the Broncos letting in a few tries down his wing.

Still not keen on Turbo playing if there is any doubt on his fitness
,Attack was just too disjointed when he started to struggle and as so much of the attacking spread depends on him being able to inject and involve himself effectively .
Fair point by Voss 13 minutes after half time in that Turbo was just not sighted in the general attacking plays up to that point and a series of mistakes for a good part of the i st half when he was no doubt also impeded mobility wise.
A match fit and willing Lehi at the back surely a batter option then a doubtful Turbo match fitness wise but if Turbo is relatively good to go , all good
Sure that a fit Koula will really help in the centres and Garrick was quite solid there last week .
As is generally accepted , Taukeiaho should offer some much needed improvement in the pack .
Bench make up still or would think a bit of an open question , Sipley still looks a bit fitter this season and goes all right in stages , Alioia a mixed bag , Waddell reliable but that is just about it .
Side showed a bit of spirit in that brief comeback but just too many unforced errors and again disjointed play [ including defence ] in general cruelled them .
Hopefully a few handy inclusions and some better overall focus can make the difference against an inform Raiders .
Tend to go all right against the Raiders historically but going to need quite a turnaround in performance level and game approach to allow that to continue on Sunday

For those who like to compare the two teams statistically for this season,

2025 Season record: Raiders 2 and 0 (2nd, +32)
Sea Eagles 1 and 1 (9th, +10)

Attack: Raiders 31 points and 6 tries scored per match
Sea Eagles 29 points and 5 tries scored per match

Defence: Raiders 15 points and 3 tries conceded per match
Sea Eagles 24 points and 4 tries conceded per match

Possession: Raiders 52 per cent, Sea Eagles 52 per cent

Completion rate: Raiders 74 per cent, Sea Eagles 77 per cent

Running: Raiders 1690 running metres per match
Sea Eagles 1731 running metres per match

Tackle breaks: Raiders 44, Sea Eagles 26 per match

Line breaks: Raiders 7, Sea Eagles 8 per match

Try assists: Raiders 5, Sea Eagles 6 per match

Offloads: Raiders 12, Sea Eagles 6 per match

Kicking: Raiders 482 kicking metres per match
Sea Eagles 614 kicking metres per match

Missed tackles: Raiders 28, Sea Eagles 33 per match

Ineffective tackles: Raiders 19, Sea Eagles 7 per match

Tackle efficiency: Raiders 88 per cent, Sea Eagles 89 per cent

Errors: Raiders 12, Sea Eagles 12 per match

Penalties conceded: Raiders 7, Sea Eagles 5 per match

Penalties awarded: Raiders 5, Sea Eagles 7 per match

Fun fact statistic, DCE has played the Raiders 22 times and has been on the winning side on 16 occasions.
As we know if you torture the data long enough it will always tell you what you wanted to know.
But gee looking at some of those stats and you could make a case for the relative table positions to be reversed. Anyways go Manly !!!

Its a crazy conundrum. As we team we seem a bit risque with the ball but not many of our fwds seem to be offloading all that much
I think that comes down to wanting to get it to the edges asap in the tackle count to use our "weapons " maybe. That offloads stat is quite a marked difference between the teams .
I wonder how we rate in the overall on that stat ?
Regardless Manly needs to stop them being able to offload in any case .

No. Out to round 4
Thanks for the info feathered friend

Last year this Manly team showed the Raiders they could be a very mentally weak team and beat themselves if a team just applies a bit of pressure even at Brookvale.

I think the Squad would need to show a bit to win this week.

From the first two rounds, anything can happen week to week, as there appears to be a lot of inconsistency with teams who played great in the first week, playing ‘****e’ the next week. The bookies are loving it.

Manly looked like Top 4 in round 1 and Bottom 4 in round 2, as did the Broncos and Penrith.

Unfortunately, I think the Raiders pack will completely dominate the middle, after watching their last two games, and we will always be on the back foot in attack. I hope I am wrong, however, if most of the guys at the Raiders stay fit, they actually could give this premiership a shake.

20 minutes into the game, the 'unobstructed highway' will open up straight down the middle, 20 metres out and the Raiders will be ticking that scoreboard over at a regular basis. Let's hope not but it's on the cards.
