To clear things up this is how it works.

The club selects a top 30 roster with the minimum wage being 100k.They then select 5 development players who earn a maximum 60k a year.

The club must submit 29 names initially before March with the final one to be submitted no later than June. Due to salary cap problem we have been allowed to only submit 28 at this stage.

For a development player outside the top 30 to play we must show to the salary cap auditor that we have no one able to play in that position.

So basically to fill our final two spots we need to
1. Buy two new players from outside the club with money left under the cap as of today.
2. Promote development players if we can prove we have no one to play that position.
3. Upgrade the contract of any player within the club to NRL status with a 100k minimum contract while staying under the cap.

Finally guys who have left the club like Lussick and Myles remain as being counted in our top 30 as they are being paid( in Lussick case he has been paid enough before he left to still be counted )

Hope that helps

Mostly correct. Minimum wage is 70k for players 30-26 of the roster and 100k for players 25-1.

There are actually 6 development players on 60k.

Therefore it’s only 10k to upgrade a development player. And it isn’t compulsory to then fill that development position.

We have the $ after releasing Lussick to make external purchases at around 100k (which given we are half way through the season is equivalent to a 200k player) so unless you are convinced a development player is streets ahead of what is available then there isn’t a great reason to upgrade.

We have been negotiating we 2 external players, although now given the injury issues and the fact that a player getting released from their current club and then registered takes time we may deviate from that plan.

I'm actually wondering if it's worth giving Tom Wright a run on the bench in the utility spot next week instead of Lewis Brown?

We have nothing to lose any more really and Wright could prove to be a good impact player (he could also prove a liability, but can't they all?). He can cover the backs and halves, and if Hastings is at 5/8 (that's a big IF) and sometime during the game Api needs a rest then he can play dummy half and Wright can come on and play in the halves.

We have enough forwards on the bench to cover them. They are all props but both Lane and probably Paseka can play back row.

You know who the 2 players are?

It’s so puzzling to try and figure out which team TB will pick when Hastings was in the team he would come on and play hooker . TB Quoted yesterday he won’t move Api to 5/8 as he is the teams best hooker and he is in SOS thoughts to play there ,So why did TB. Play Hastings at hooker ?
Now with all the drama and Hastings on the outer to whom I’m not sure by all reports of coffee shop gatherings and players out watching Reggie’s , TB persisant with Croker and now his hand is forced to pick an experinced 1/2 but who will he pick ? TB has showed he doesn’t always pick an expected side when there form is down , and another but is that he doesn’t have much to choose from but to bring in a rookie or a Reggie class player TB is dammned if he does and dammned if he doesn’t but he is in his 3rd year as coach and his squad so the buck stops at him to get the team up and get them all pulling in the same direction

Just grouping together some of the ideas put up recently

Anderson
T Wright
Parker
Suli
Tafua
Crocker
Hastings
Sipley
Fainu
Paseka
Gojetski

Tanginoa

D Lussick
Funa
J Lussick
J Wright

My Team:

1. Tom Trbojevic
2. Tom Wright
3. Dylan Walker
4. Brian Kelly
5. Akuila Uate
6. Daly Cherry-Evans ©
7. Jackson Hastings
8. Taniella Paseaka
9. Apisai Koroisau
10. Martin Taupau
11. Joel Thompson
12. Shaun Lane
13. Jake Trbojevic

14. Lewis Brown
15. Lloyd Perrett
16. Addin Fonua-Blake
17. Toafofoa Sipley

18. Frank Winterstein
19. Jonathan Wright
20. Matthew Wright
21. Mickey Mouse (I don't think there is anyone else that is registered in the NRL to fit the 21)

IMO AFB can be one of the most destructive impact players in the game if he is used off the bench

Is he registered?
Yes, he is in our 30.
The team you posted, plus Funa is the one that will be named on tuesday. If we can't field 21 players on tuesday the NRL will be forced to give us a speedy upgrade/allow us to use unregistered players or we forfeit the game.
