DCE did say "we got Paid to play" but how many times has he and a lot of his team mates actually played??? I would call it playing....
Only bloke who has learnt his $$$ is Jake. The rest are floaters....

No, it’s not Trent , but with over 10 years experience as a Nrl assistant Coach
(@ other clubs )- I can say for sure Manly problems won’t be solved with 1 quick fix.
Everybody knows Barrett’s got to go - he only got the job because he was hundreds of thousand dollars cheaper than successfull established coaches. Manlys budget spent is a far from most clubs.

But it seems all the experts on this site seem to think changing only the coach will fix Manly’s problems .

For starters, losing matches and getting run down with big leads many times is indicative of the fitness levels of the players. Dan Ferris is responsible - Trent take him with you . Every level and area of the club has issues and problems that have taken Manly back to the dark ages in comparison to other ( most) Nrl clubs.

The tried hard but need direction. They need better defensive structures, speed and fitness. Des would have them hopping around the oval on one leg or whatever he used to do until they were fit as hell. Donny would walk them up to the lighthouse at Palmie until the puked.

Kids these days put weights on their pens through the year so they can write faster during the HSC (not making this up). Train hard fight easy ...

I agree. Nrl should model their contract somewhat similar to the NFL but different. For eg. When a player signs a contract, let's say cherry Evan's for 1.3 million a year. It should be 650k guaranteed in pocket for the season no matter results. Up to another 650k can be earnt during the season. Divide 650 by the amount of games in a season including finals. In Evan's case that would mean roughly around 23k a game if he wins. If he doesn't he misses out. So really every players potential earnings depend on themselves, and provides more ambition to go deep into finals to earn more money

The only problem with that is the players will all want to play for the top teams no one will want to play for the bottom 4

This half time spray is a genuine reason the GC players responded.
Manly were walking around in the shed like it was won and they were so good....just cause they were leading should have copped plenty over 3 bombed tries and the fact Titans looked likely every time they got to the red zone....but no....let’s just go through the motions and have the opposition come out and bustle the crap out of us- scoring 5-6 straight tries in the process- pathetic!!

LG will be a welcome start if he can stay injury free

Manly's spine this year was basically Turbo and Chez due to Api's injury and young Croker 😕

And that all comes from the coaching and conditioning of the players. This current structure has failed and needs to go. This piss poor attitude is a direct result of the team leadership.

He does no doubt, however what i was alluding to is with the week we had they were good enough to get to a position where they were up and should have been up by plenty more and should have been in control. Front office problems weren't there then... that second half is where the players should have done what they are paid to do and win that game. Front office issues that need to be addressed can be done at seasons end.

The place is in shambles for sure but as long as they are getting paid to play then i don't see an excuse from the players. Compare the Bulldogs resolve today and having to.let go of a.few.players and salary cap issues etc.

Partly agree mate, but the players aren't getting the support they deserve "as a team". The coach is forced into resignation, management obviously dont care (or they would of addressed the issues) and they are r00ted as a team. Barrett can give no more with all the other external obstacles that keep leaking issues and causing dramas.

Yeah, I do agree that the Penns are way out of line and appear guilty of running the club into the ground with their cost-cutting approach. And I am just as angry and unhappy with them. However, what specific "support" aren't the players getting that stops them from playing a game of footy to the best of their ability? They seem to have boots, jumpers, shorts, socks and a ball... what more does one need to dig in and show some pride in your team, and in yourself? Players and coaches have a choice as to how they want to view the situation... use it as an excuse for their performance, or use it as an excuse for their performance (hehe... see what I did there).

I wish the players were paid different amounts for a win, lose or draw. Maybe then, if they really want the big pay packets, they would actually play to win and be pissed off if they don't.

I've been saying the exact same thing for years. There's no incentive to win and it's the reason they all smile and laugh after a pea hearted effort.
