Player Ratings - Round 12

I have had a very boring friday night and decided to be fair and watch a replay of the game...I will man up and say that I think that Marty did have a better game than what I saw live on the night.I change it to a 7 and apologize for calling it garbage in another thread....It is hard to watch and analyse all players on the field at once.(and he did not deserve to be hooked at the 10 minute mark, although he had some poor moments)However,it made me think and I doubt that anyone in their wildest dreams would admit to this statement a few weeks/months ago.I really think that we are missing Parker and Suli, their damaging runs are being missed, one of the things I believe are being under estimated are Parkers tough runs,he punches through the line and ends up on his belly and gets a quick play the ball.I think we rely less on attacking skill in the centres and need defence and ability to create momentum more ....

That is the beauty of a forum, vive la difference or whatever,I saw a guy ripping in and going well, shame some of our other forwards did not play with that attitude....I am sorry if you think I have no idea,no problemo.I would be fine next year with Waddell 11 and 2 props and Gosiewski on the bench.Maybe Des has no idea?
I was fired up about the loss and probably didnt explain my point properly.JetSki is getting a run solely because the big men at the club have not stepped up at all. Tanginoa ( gone ) Paseka ( ordinary in reserve grade ) and Boyle ( coming back from major injury/ fitness concerns ) have meant he has virtually had no options.

The fact Des rushed an underdone Boyle straight in from the Titans shows he’s desperate for that extra big man in the side.
The main point is you can’t have an effective bench with only one big man if you are playing the extra hooker. And Des seems to want the two hooker scenario as it’s one area that’s working. I would have no problem with Fainu being sole hooker next year and JetSki may get a look in then but I don’t think Des is heading that way.The one absolute constant in our play is the bad stretches we have when Marty and AFB go off and we have smaller bodies doing their work.

I have absolutely no doubt that if Paseka and Boyle show improvement JetSki will be the one to go if Sipley is available. He can’t provide the big body we need and the balance to the bench and Waddell is clearly ahead in the pecking order.

This would be the case even if I thought JetSki was a good first grader. There is just no balance at the moment and we get dominated when Marty and AFB go off.

I prefer the two props on the bench too.Gosiewski is getting the nod partly because he covers the centre position in an emergency and has done it well this year when needed. If he re-signs (which is a serious option for next year) I think he will be the bench guy again and Waddell starts as I think Waddell offers more as a starter.I would still have Gosiewski on the bench this year if Des was going for 2 props because you need some versatility on the bench. In years past Des put all his eggs in one basket with stacking the bench with forwards only and got burned by not being able to cover the backs with injuries in games.Lets just agree that we rate Gosieski differently,I still think he has a valuable role to play...As a starter I think Waddell has more upside definitely.

Yep.Agree re Waddell. For him to start though it means Thommo goes to UK I suppose. I reckon he has another year in him and I’d be extending his contract as we are such a young side already. Love his work on and of the field.
With our ability to find an injury Im sure Waddell gets a few starts anyway if Thommo stays.

Mate ... you keep giving big points to a losing pack ....

For the most part our forwards, the starting forwards, weren't the problem against Penrith. The problem was other than for about 5 minutes starting at around the 72 minute mark neither half could have taken advantage of the local drunk slapper at the pub let alone any ground that the likes of AFB, Marty and Siro made (along with the good ground made by Jorge, Walks and Miski). And our edge defence was split open more times more than a WWE wrestler blading themselves with a hidden razor.

Im going to give you a 9/10 for that one.
But I’m going to sneak in a little uppercut (and this should come as no surprise), but I think Api is still hindered with that calf injury. He usually gets replaced at or near the 30 minute mark, and Fainu plays the rest. But he had to go to the 53rd minute, and I think it took a lot more out of him. I still agree on the 6 rating, but more for the reasons I’ve mentioned.
