Where can we read about this?

In fact, he has admitted his biggest promise, expansion, was harder than he first thought and there probably would not be any new teams in the competition unless one of the Sydney teams collapsed. Hardly visionary.

The latest word on the Beattie expansion plan has come to me second-hand, but from a trusted source. Beattie has told people he can see the Sea Eagles in Perth.

I wouldn't get over excited.

The only highlight from Beattie is him saying he wont be around too long.

Leave half of Sydney with no NRL team? In an effort to convert AFL fans in a smaller city? Sure makes a lot cents. Not! Just give up on half of Sydney & leave it to AFL? A rugby league city where people & sponsors don't have to be taught what rugby league is.

The side of Sydney north of the harbour and Parramatta River has a bigger population and corporates than Perth or Brisbane. On the south side of Sydney the same area supports Easts, Souths, Dogs, Wests, Dragons & Sharks.

Whatever money the NRL has for wasting on Manly relocating to Perth it should invest on Sydney's northside and help make Manly a powerhouse club.

Haha do you really think those 2 idiots running the game have any idea or vision on that absolutely accurate summation of Sydney. They don't because all they do is react to media hysteria, the bulk of which is shrill derision of our club.

So many more suitable locations for a new team. How about Brisbane. How about the Wellington or Christchurch in New Zealand. Areas with an established market and where some branch of rugby is already popular.

All I can say is bring on Des Hasler to Manly,Im sure he has enough filth on that smirking slime bucket Greentud to keep him quite ,to keep Manly at Brookvale, and in the process newter that appalling example of a mental invalid and serial smiling idiot Beatoff

Manly to Perth is not a new, or particularly visionary idea.

We have discussed it on ST for most of this shtful season. Hopefully our owners are as loyal to Brookvale as we are, although there are certain upsides to a Perth move.

Oh, and Beattie is a dud.

Then why aren't Manly tapping in to this area? Forget about the NRL doing it for us. For the last 15 years the club has done nothing to promote rugby league on north shore.

What a terrible vision, I have a feeling if it does happen it will be done just to make it look like they are doing “something” and will be done without due diligence. They’ll pump money into it and artificially boost certain figures to make it appear as a success in some way too.

If they continue to focus on what rugby league doesn’t do rather than building on what it does well (tradition and rivalry in Australia’s biggest population centre being one of them) then the game is doomed.

One thing smart marketing people have realised in other sporting codes is that the most hated teams are a bigger drawcard than the most supported because everyone will tune in to hope they get beaten (Patriots, Lakers, Man Utd, Yankees, etc).

Only an occasional visitor to Sydney over the years but taking most things into account , think that a Manly entity on the northern region and beaches in Sydney will always be a more viable and long term option then any alternative such as the Bears . In any case any Perth franchise would much prefer their own local identity and connection . The A R L has an 18 team comp [ and i concede that they are better operated right now ] but with natural population increases , probably inevitable that additional teams will emerge in Perth and Brisbane [ one other ] down the track sometime and no reason why Sydney can not continue to support 10 sides on present indications . Let the Bears have a crack at Perth if they are that intent to re enter the comp .

The whole saga around our club. The bad press the salary cap issues. It's all orchestrated to destabilize enough to relocate need back into finals and preferably a premiership asap.

There’s plenty of work and time being invested around the Centre of Excellence and Brookvale, so you’d imagine this wouldn’t be the case if the owners had any thoughts of relocation.
