Perrett (Under the radar?)

I confess that apart from a fill-in or rotation prop, I haven't given Perrett much thought.

However today Rothturd wrote when spruiking supercoach,

"Perrett has created a serious stir at the sea eagles this pre-season"

"Bob Fulton immensely impressed with Perrett, tipping the 115kg prop to play an important role"

"He notched up just 2 games last year despite Des Hasler wanting to play him much more, Hasler's hands were tied by second tier salary cap issues."

This may be the first time I have ever hope Rothbum is on the mark. Is Perrett cruising under the radar?

With Darcy out he will get his shot provided his injury doesn't keep him out.

I've seen him play a number of times and my concern with Perrett is his toughness - he has the ability without doubt, it's what is going on upstairs that will determine how well he goes. He needs no fear and to just rip in.

Could fill the Vave hole?

Seem to recall he made the QLD jnr origin squad or the up and comers camp?

I have him penciled in as first reserve for an injury but haven't seem much of him.

I have always had difficulty loving players who seem emotionless or who appear to play in slow motion. Not to say they aren't necessarily good, just find it hard to warm to them, always look like they have a gear their not using.

Both Perrett and Lane fall into that category with me. Hope they both play like they have a pair and I need to post my apologies.

Perrett needs to improve his mobility and toughness to pay first grade
This is 100% right - hopeful knowing if he doesn't perform he is quickly becoming a Nomad and this does not earn respect from NRL clubs in the future...early in career but time to live up to the reputation and use that big frame to hurt ppl.

I put the question out a couple of times to those who saw him in the trial re how he played. Very curious as to what his impact was like for us...fingers crossed he steps up. 115kg is a chunky lad. Giddyup

Both have not long turned 22 as well. Still kids.

All the best props in the game are older. Graham, Fafita, Bromwich, Burgess etc. Don't exactly remember them all coming into the scene at 21/22 and being aggressive monsters pumped to the eyeballs with emotion.

The only one I can think of who's stands out like you're talking about would be someone like Klemmer? He's a whole different kind of beast. Love the way he plays, but even he has toned it down since playing rep footy.

I reckon as they cement their spots in the team they'll warm to more aggression and emotion. Right now they've probably been told to just focus on their footy and play themselves into the team.
I'd love Matai and Tapau to work with Perrett and Lane - talking to them about playing hard and tough - not taking a backward step.

well for what its worth my impression of him from the 9's was slow & disinterested ... maybe that was just the 9's but attitude would be my worry with him ... he certainly has glowing wraps on him

abit the same mate , haven't seen to much of him but they seem to have wraps on him . Was thinking the vave mould myself. we did have wraps on parcell also and he got unwrapped.

Really looking forward to seeing how these new forwards go this season (in particular Perrett, Siro and Lane). Hopefully they lift and reach some of their potential, if so we'd have one bloody formidable pack. As i've said I feel the whole side will go a little bit under the radar, not premiership contesting yet but i'll for one be surprised if we didn't make the 8. Although that'd only be possible if these signings rise to the plate so we have to see if they're any chance of doing so before we discover where that finish could be. Why haven't they invented time travelling yet, like c'mon!! 😱

Yeah, there's a fine line between being agressive and loose.
Look at JWH & Lussick, both hyped up as the next big thing early in their careers and both had their fair share of drama.
It has taken them a while to work out they're more valuable to their team when they are actually playing than in the sin bin or suspended.
Lussick still has that stupid play in him but seemed to settle it down midway through last year, so hopefully that will continue.

For Perrett, a new club, a new start...head down, bum up as they say.
