Geoff Toovey and Des Hasler. While both are great on their own, these two are a dream team when you put them together.

The greatest rebuild in rugby league history has their names all over it. Our club was on the verge of folding but was miraculously revived by these 2 and some other great support staff. The rebuild delivered 2 premierships and includes the greatest winning margin in a grand final, against a team that was excessively over the cap. It also should have delivered a 3rd title except for a disgraceful refereeing performance in 2013. We were undoubtedly the best club in the competition while these two were together and they only needed 2 seasons to turn us from cellar dwellers into finalists. We even put powerhouses like the Broncos and Storm in the shade during their partnership, all while we were a shambles off the field.

In the case of Geoff Toovey, he hung tough with us as a player when the club became the Northern Eagles and jumped straight into a coaching role when we retained our licence, at a time when we were absolutely rooted and had **** all going for us. As an all-round package, he is the greatest person in the club's history.

It's time for the power brokers to keep their egos in check and find people like these two who can lift us out of the **** hole we are in.

I dunno where they go from here IF we don't come good.
We can't have anymore quick fix rebuilds.
It just doesn't work anymore and we've used that card two years in succession which imo is why Brookie doesn't pack the same punch.
I wish we had've bought young then Baz could've built it for a tilt next year.
Patience would've been required but at least we could see a means to an end.

The wisdom of Hasler and Toovey revived our club from the dead. Over the last 3 years we have seen our club gutted to its core, so many players let go and the fabric ripped out of our club which is controlled by egos and agendas and we are now in the lowest position since the dreadful northern eagle days.
There needs to be some honesty about where we are going as a club and some accountability. When you see the same players making the same errors week in week out you understand that there needs to be a rethink about where we are and where we are going.

Toovey and Hasler were exceptional players and competitors, unlike Barrett not a world beater but ordinary footballer at best. Hard to respect him if he has not hit the heights of these two. Never has worked at Manly, having outside people come in and being successful. That is the problem with penn, sell the club back to the members and beg for Stewart, Matia, kite, Lyons to comeback and reinstate the culture with Hasler, u can't have nine new faces in the first grade side they do not know Manly, having your little lattes at the coffee shop is laughable. DCE was never part of the culture, so I don't think he is your answer. Foran was the master an DCE was luck to be part of it.
