Anybody want to say we have improved? This is against a second rate panthers team and our defensive structure is embarrassing.

We may win but winning 34-32 is not something to be proud of we are a soft team with a coach who seems to have no idea how to or even care about fixing it.

Compare that to ciraldo or even flanagan with worse rosters than us. Time to punt this imposter.
I think you’re being a little harsh. Penrith had plenty of ball and they’ve completed almost all their sets. They’ve got a lot of their stars there. I actually think aside from To’o proving a handful, we’ve played pretty well and defended better than we normally do. Let’s see how they go in the second half. They defo need to tighten up the middle a bit. Too many metres and quick play the balls.

How Ruben let in the Panthers second try is beyond me

You can tell he is frustrating other team mates who are putting in

32-18 scoreline Panthers way coming up

Yes we are competing but still way off the mark from the top teams

Panthers are there to be beaten but just can't see it happening

This is as I expected we would be in the game but dumb footy is costing us

I wish our coaches would do their job and talk to Ben T about working harder to get square at marker. Every week he costs us with his casual efforts getting up off the tackled player. It’s cost us twice today. It’s not hard, just attention to detail.
He was called out on the first one and couldn’t help himself.

What is disappointing, is our defense last year was one of the worst in the league. You'd think this offseason, that would have been the focus, but we've come out (if this is even possible), worse than last year. I'm not confident we can keep ANY teams, including Tigers , Titans and others under 20+

Thankfully our attack is fantastic.

Our defence wouldn't be such an issue, if we didn't give cheap possession away, trying a miracle play with 3 minutes to go in the half.

If you can't defend your line, stop giving the opposition opportunities on your line.

Game management strikes again.

Make no mistakes, this in a Panthers B-side guys. If I read that people are proud of this crap , I don't know what to do.
I’m the first to criticise when warranted but this is NOT a B grade panthers side. Yes they’re missing 2 or 3 but we are too. We’re in this game up to our eyeballs and it’s on their home turf. Let’s see how we go in the next half but so far I think we’ve done ok.

Well said.

When we should've been sliding across once again DCE didn't and caused the overlap.
Yeah, but Garrick will get the blame.

I thought our defence was looking really good at the start of the game, even after their first try, which came after three repeat sets. But quick play-the-balls kill us every time. As does Brian To'o whenever he's got the ball. Who was it that was saying how average he was in the Origin thread?

Really like the effort Lehi Hoppa is putting in to direct the defence and always be in position. And great to see the other Tommy T get his first NRL hat trick. And we still have plenty of time to get things right and win this game.

Yeah and he should give the penalty away in that situation, because against the Storm, he stayed out of it and they scored. What he needs to do is not get called out in the first place, by working harder…he is far too casual. He actually gets there but doesn’t bounce into position, just stands there.

To those smashing Garrick, watch DCE on the inside. Constantly making wrong decisions in defence. As @mickqld pointed out in the last try. Don’t get me wrong, Garrick is as well. Whole right flank is a disaster in defence..
Maybe if Saab just stayed on his wing assignment and leave Gaz to his own effort, might speed up the process of back to the wing and yes DCE gets caught committing to no one to often leaving us short for numbers

What game are you watching, Garrick and Jake costing us big time

Fact.

I was just stating fact big guy. Am i wrong?

We are MUCH healthier than the Panthers mate, by miles. We have Tom and Croker out. We cannot use our injuries as an excuse in this one. We've been letting rookie halves beat is regularly this season..

I just think we need to be more agile and aggressive in Defense. We give them way too much time. Opposition halves eat that stuff up. Until that happens , we'll be almost rans.

No you're not wrong.

Being here at the ground, I'll post more AFTER the game however, like for like the only player they have out over and above a commensurate manly equivalent is Nathan Cleary.

We've lost Ola, they've lost Martin, they've lost Edwards, we've lost Turbo, they've lost Cleary, we've not lost a like for like.

We've lost Lodge and Croker as well.

I get people's frustrations and trust me, watching this live gives me another level of admiration for Ivan Cleary and his football department with respect to team and general in-play tactics, however this Panthers team is not a B-grade squad.
