Penn's buy out Quantum

Not saying he is the best rather he has the results on the board

Put aside your agendas and you can see it. Over time Dave might be the same we will wait and see

No agenda here, hell I know neither man (just a difference of opinion) if you cared to read how this all started was a poster claiming the Stewart brothers were recruited by Cleal which is factually incorrect. It's time to move on anyway and look forward to some signing news.

And j just might add that it's a little sad that we as fans have jumped on the political bandwagon and adopted " sides" , mind you I'm as bad as any at that .

We are divided in which side we followed , and keep attacking each other to the cows come home, it's almost like we are fans of different clubs .

We are all guilty of smart arse comments, having a go at the " others " and holding grudges.

Maybe that's what forums are about , I'm on a few and none are as volatile as this one can get.

My grandkids are here for the weekend now , to be honest they are WAY more important than this shyte, so for a while fare thee well folks and enjoy the battle in my absence .

They may take our lives, but they''ll never take.....OUR FREEDOM!

Mark, when Penn was asked about Zorba on the BSB about being in a management role, Penn pissed himself laughing, he then went on to say Zorba's playing days are over and that he will always be part of the club but not in any management role.

Fortunately or Unfortunately we now have one owner. I wouldnt have been annoyed if it was Quantum that bought it out. Just as im not annoyed that the Penns bought it out. I am just happy that someone has the green light to get shoit sorted because lately it was starting to look like a train wreck.

There is only 1 camp to be in, and that is the MANLY camp! regardless of who owns them. God bless Max D and Quantum for all their hard work and money. Now onto the new era. Lets hope it is as prosperous. No one does Phoenix rising from the ashes like we do!!

I just feel a really smart move would be to stand down Zorba, FFS he's about 75 now isn't he??
Watched a dvd the other day of the 1973 grand final, and he played well for Manly. Small bowling-ball type, whole-hearted & fearless with a bit of ball skill. That was a very long time ago, now he is a large bowling-ball type.

I reckon Manly has provided more media/commentary personnel over the years than any other club.

No, but seriously, your comedy sucks.

Must be a Peters fanboi

Why don't you cry about it

Cry about what? I think everything that has happened is great. Its all up for me. Its just others that are whingeing and complaining. Peters fanboi? Dont know the guy, and only interracted with him once quite briefly.

I've read people's view's with interest despite the "sidetracks" the thread has gone down.

I have to say that I'm glad that we don't have the division we had to put up with this year. Whether the Penn's having the controlling interest is good, I don't know. But it has to beat the crap out of grown men throwing their toys out of the cot.

For what it's worth, here's my view.

If the Penn's want to change things at a boardroom level, then it's their choice. But I hope they're mature enough to recognise good people doing good jobs and don't let personalities come into it. I don't know if there's been any official announcement re Dave Perry, but I have the feeling he may be gone.

They've already put the kibosh on Zorba having any management role. Thank f..... for that.

Choc is gone. The powers that be think the money can be better spent. And if he's going to rock the boat, he may as well go now.

As for Dave Warwick, I rate the guy purely on the players that have come to the club and how well connected he seems to be. As for Crusher, I'm happy for him to stay where he is. I'd take Warwick over him any day.

I'm glad to hear Penn talk about the retention of DCE and Foz. I've never understood the view that losing one would be an acceptable result.

I like the talk of the redevelopment of Brookvale. We all love the hill and the feel of the suburban ground but it's just a matter of time before it's gone. Corporates can't entertain clients on the hill. So whether we like it or not, Brookie is going to look more like Bluetongue or Parramatta than it does at the moment.

And Dan, please don't turn the car around. I've never been to Disneyland. 😛

I'm not altogether sure how I feel about this.

The Penns were responsible for allowing Hasler to effectively run the football dept with complete autonomy. This led to back ended deals, get out clauses and ultimately him quitting and poaching players and staff. I hope they've learned something thru all of that.

As for Peters and his role at the club… he's on the board. The Penns own the leagues club and he's their appointee. You don't get much more involved that that.

I feel sorry for Dave Perry as he was very good in his role but I'm sure he'd rather not work for the Penns anyway. If I was in his position and it was a choice of tolerating Peters or maintaining your dignity…. I know what I do.

The Penn's have a big job in front of them. Much of the recent turmoil at the club can be traced back to them, but to be fair so can much of it's success. I just hope they do the right thing for all of us, in both the short and long term.

If the penne did not hold the majority share then how were they accountable for des?

All parties were responsible

Jeez someone has done a great job of destroying Reputations in this club, I wonder how much of it is true and who is actually behind it?

Harry you surely aren't suggesting that Cleal was recruiting for Manly when he was at the Eels?

Crusher is so good at what he does he was setting up the Eels as our feeder club right under their noses, and getting paid for it by them. Give it another 12 months and the Bulldogs will be our new feeder club. I'm hearing Klemmer, Jackson, Lafai, Finucane etc could be beaches bound.

Regarding the pledge by Mr Penn to upgrade Brookvale Oval: As heartening as this sounds my cynical self asks: Why would the Penns sink many millions of dollars into a ground which is owned by the Council? What return will they get?
I don;t doubt that the Penns love the Sea Eagles. But they are certainly smart enough to avoid wasting money on an asset of which they have no control over.

Be patient, all will be revealed in the fullness of time.

The FC importance to business matters I now see at an end, which will make @Matabele extremely happy
Oh you bet it does.

This article is just "beating the corporate drum", so you need to take this with a grain of salt BUT it will sort out the board arguments, as they can hardly argue with themselves can they??

The FC is still important as they hold the "preference share" but their importance to business matters I now see at an end, which will make @Matabele extremely happy AND if he lived in Sydney he'd be the one doing handstands down the Corso singing "Ding Dong the Wicked Witch is dead".

BUT it remains to be seen what the "end game" is and how things will change for fans, maybe I'm looking at this with Rose Coloured glasses but I'm still not 100% convinced a sole ownership plan is the best......just ask the Newcastle fans who are lucky to still have a club.

Discussing this amongst League mates today, and the Tinkler issue appears to be the odd-one-out for individual owners, in recent times. But given our owner has been in the place over 10 years, it is difficult to see him suddenly do a Nathan on us.

Like others, I guess I'll find out as the off-season and 2015 go on, as to how this affects the clubs performance and running.

And they better have a bloody good operator on stand-by to move in, if they do move forward without Perry!!!!
Oh you know these forums just love a good conspiracy theory, so no doubt they'll have plenty to work with now those Machiavellian Penns and their success at business and start-ups have won out over QANTUM and the largesse we can deduce from its 2c share price.
