After some talk about how bad we are in giving away penalties i thought id have a look

Well i have analysed the stats and arranged them in for/against order. Ie penalties awarded - penalties conceded. This is average per game so the bye plays no part.

Penrith 8 7.2 +.8
StGeorge 10.2 9.6 +.8
Manly 10 9.25 +.75
Tigers 6.75 6 +.75
Wattiors 8 7.6 +.4
Parra 7.2 6.8 +.4
Souths 7.6 7.2 +.4
Roosters 5.6 5.4 +.2
Canberra 8.25 8.25 0
Newcastle 5.5 5.25 -.25
Cowboys 6.8 6.4 -.6
Broncos 5.6 6.6 -1
Melbourne 5.8 7.8 -2
Dogs 7 9 -2

The trend shows that the highly penalised teams also recieve a lot of penalties. Which can be as simple as the refs feeling on the day or towards a team.

too many penalties, slowing the game a lot. its important to pull up anything dangerous but the play the ball these penalties really upset me, there is no consistancy by the refs unless you think them getting it wrong most of the time is consistant.
better being on the better side of the differance though.

Monas is reported in today's Sun-Herald as saying "We've made a pledge this year to improve our discipline to reduce silly penalties and when we do get penalised not to dwell on it, not to blame on another but to just get on with the game". I have to say I haven't seen that so far.

The Hampster is an annoying ref and very hard to get onside. Last night he wasn't up to scratch again. Monas gets my sympathy vote when he is in charge.

All the same I would prefer to see Monas action and not talk about their discipline.

Yeah I sure the article in the Big League mag and I'd thought Id remembered Manly doing well compared to the teams Im playing.

What a pointless article, they should have looked at which refs were giving the most penalites and which games had the most.

It is also important to look at the home crowd factor! Mind you, when teams get a reputation it is very hard to get the mindset changed as refers to penalties.

It does appear that way

Although if we add yesterdays game into things we average about 11 for and 8.5 against
