Pathway Program

Just wondering if the club has or has considered a pathway’s program. If it is not in Sydney, they should be trying to forge a partnership with local clubs here in New Zealand and maybe the Pacific Islands such as Fiji.

Melbourne Storm do not have an local juniors from Victoria yet they are able to identify talents from Queensland, New Zealand and also Fiji. My questions is, why are we not doing the same.

Unfortunately it looks like the club is not spending money on pathways program, talent identification and it is so unfortunate that local legends - Trbojevic brothers may finish their career without a premiership. We cannot rely on buying a premiership (although some clubs do) with a huge chunk of the cap been spent on a few players so we have to relay on unearthing youngsters. With our reserve grade team no doing too well, we do not have may players who can step up.

I remember we had that NZ connection for awhile there, we had the Maori jersey etc but it all seems to have disappeared 🤷🏻‍♂️

We still have programs in NZ. One with a school and one with a club I believe. They were both announced within the last year from memory. Can someone please confirm ??

Based on the above, that is $1,250,000 that we are spending. With our lower grades not doing too well, do they need to look at other pathways/partnerships.

I know when I lived in Fiji early 1990’s, the person who was running the comp in Fiji was an ex-Sea Eagles yet we don’t seem to have identified and signed any players directly from the local teams there.

They have 6 Districts: Lautoka Zone,Nadi Zone, Nadroga Zone, Nasinu Zone, Ra Zone, Suva Zone and they also have two Sea Eagles team - Kinoya Sea Eagles and Namuaniwaqa Sea Eagles. Like Freddy and Joeys said that Fiji has so many talented rugby league players so my questions is some of the money going to players there or are they all in Australia.
