Club bosses survey on most underrated players. Tent rates highly at number 5:
On the bloke in the bar podcast they described what Paseka is to manly is the same as what Payne Haas is to the Donkeys.

Lots been said about Paseka, the truth of it is if we were to lose him who gives us the go forward out of the remaining middles.

Taniela has progressed well over the last few years. Indispensable to our 17 and integral cog I think to us potentially winning a GF. He is not the Alpha beast some of us want him to be and he is certainly not the leader of our pack. Nor will he ever be (IMO). But still a massive part of our forwards. Probably best value off the bench.

It's a shame big Nella doesn't have some of that JWH about him. We have been missing an alpha for too long

The problem is, we do lose Paseka regularly. Injuries always seem to hit him right when he's starting to show glimpses of consistency and form, and it feels like he's then starting over from scratch. That's why, almost three years since @Woodsie started this thread, we're still waiting for his time to come.

Maybe there are some changes on the horizon ..
When you look at props signed past this season we have Paseka on a long term contract,Brown signed through 26,Laiafi on an NRL contract through 26 and Pua'Avase who is on a supplementary contract through 26.
Bullemor,Taukeiaho,Aloiai,Sipley,James and Patolo are off contract.
Smaller middles like Navale and Waddell(and Jake) are signed past 25.
Lodge supposedly may be signed on a 2 year contract(not confirmed).

'Underrated' is a pretty subjective term.
Wishart won hands down but I don't of anyone that doesn't rate him. The fact he can't get a full time starting spine position at Storm doesn't fool anyone! He's clearly a good player.

I thought he was easily the standout middle last season, played 21 games and whilst he is not in that top tier of front rowers he isn’t far off, consistency I think he has improved on since 2022 where he only played 11 games.

Last season I would rate in terms of consistency a 7.5 out of 10 on average over the 22 games, subjective and each person rates players differently, he isn’t far off Haas and AFB and he is a lot better than anyone else we have at the club playing front row.

I think he was very consistent,I believe he was number 6 in the MVP silvertails thread over the course of the season.
Sort of suggests that most saw it that way too, pretty impressive for a front rower.
I had him worthy of getting a shot at Origin, personally think he has shone as a starter, don't believe he is as effective off the bench.
Mark Carroll he is not,Kite was an excellent prop but he was not a hard arse either, just very consistent.Paseka is tracking to that type of player for me(I know that he is not everyones cup of tea)

Club obviously rates him and with the longer term contract extension last season or so .
When uninjured , definitely can play a very influential role and fairly consistent the past few seasons .
Suggestions that he was not that far off S O O selection last season were not that far off the mark
Don "t mind the likely prop grouping of Tent and Taukeiaho starting , then Bully , Jake , Alioia or Sipley playing a role there then .
Even Lodge again , may have something to offer if an opportunity presents itself .
More of a priority to sort out the 9 and 13 roles then any doubt on Tent 's largely good value to the team

Paseka had a great game but on reflection he was even better than I thought.
The decoy run he took in the opening minutes made sure Haumole had a one-on-one go at the line, which meant a certain try.
I also just checked his stats (NRL) and for comparison
Haumole -15 runs - 156 m - 68m post contact (many aimed at young Perdue and little terrier Dearden)
Taniela - 16 - 152m - 63m (all into the meat of the Cows pack)
add a line break assist and try assist to Cherry
tackle efficiency 100%
