First Grader
The more games he gets and the fitter he becomes is going to be a real weapon for our side. He is still raw and once he improves his endurance he will be one of the best props in the comp!
Agree. Can wack in defence too. Coming along nicelyThe more games he gets and the fitter he becomes is going to be a real weapon for our side. He is still raw and once he improves his endurance he will be one of the best props in the comp!
Reported on here earlier in the year that he's on about 400k, so is a big upgrade really smart. An extension sure, but with Jake, Marty and AFB's big $$$ can we really afford another big $$$ forward. 400k if it's real, is pretty huge coin for a bench prop.Taniela Paseka is finally starting to realise just what an advantage his natural size is in rugby league. At 120 kg he's in the top 3 for weight in the NRL, and at 197 cm (6'6") only Nelson Asofa-Solomona and Shaun Lane right now are taller.
He seem's to be finally shedding the gentle giant tag and is starting to show the potential many thought he had.
If we manage to keep him long term, because its probably a given that he'll receive offers from elsewhere the better he gets, he'll be a starter in our front row for a long time.
I 100% agree with @manly al ... I hope the club see's him as a priority keep and puts in the effort required to keep him a Sea Eagle.

He has the potential to be as good as Payne Haas. Big body, good footwork, atheletic for his size and can offload. Really living up to his potential that last few weeks. If he keeps on improving we won't lose that punch we have through middle when AFB and Kapow get their spell. He's only 22 we must remember
Every game ,huh ?We need to set up a TPA where he gets a dollar for every time Roach says “he needs to realise how big he is”. Would be the highest paid player in the comp
Yes. He will be top 3 in the next 2 years without question.Let me start by saying I love watching this guy play and when he’s on, he’s a damaging front rower with enormous influence on the game.
But he still seems to be in and out of games. The odd week he’ll have a stormer and run for 200+ metres, then he’ll go missing the week after. Or he’ll have one good stint on the field and a lacklustre second stint.
It was reported that he copped a spray from Dessie at halftime in the Penrith game and came out firing in the second half. Then Tom had a go at him against Parra.
Can Des turn him into a consistent first grader or will he be a whole lot of lost potential?
Equals==strong learning curve that will improve his match fitness and mental conditioning which should benefit us going forward, his a good physical specimen and appears very robust for a 23 yo prop, pretty sure there‘s still some quality upside to come. The pace of the game was a little bit above him yesterday. Even before he spilled that pass it was obvious he was gassed. As more injuries pile up Des is leaving players out there longer and longer due to the lack of specialist replacements on the bench.
Ailoi was playing big minutes and is being missed in the rotation
big man , faster game, longer minutes , less replacements
I hope he takes it as a learning curve. Some players who cop it from team mates and coaches can have a negative impact. They can start to think **** you! Its never nice to have someone you like and respect yell at you. I hope Turbo and Des pulled Paseka aside and said no hard feelings but you need to work on a few things. Its all good to have a blow up but it needs to go beyond that. Hopefully Paseka cops it on the chin and aims up next week. He has been extremely impressive this year but there is just a moment here and there that let's him down. If he can work on these little things he could be pushing for origin in the next couple years!Equals==strong learning curve that will improve his match fitness and mental conditioning which should benefit us going forward, his a good physical specimen and appears very robust for a 23 yo prop, pretty sure there‘s still some quality upside to come.
Ailoi was (is) a big loss, the boys have done an awesome job in his absence and will appreciate his return when it happens, in the mean time they have to steel themselves to bring their game week in, week out and that is the challenge, keep up the good work lads, we are all looking forward to you dominating the knights pack and consolidating our attack on this comp.
