Paseka - Is it his time ??

First Grader
We fell shy of a miraculous and probably undeserved win, but this bloke turned the momentum and looked better than I have seen him in he past.
As "The Who" rightly pointed out, should have been on far earlier, in fact a stint at 25 - 30 mins and then 65 mins could have changed the result.
Made good metre's and its the first time Iv'e defensively seen him use his size to hurt the opposition.
A few more angry pills and could be an absolute weapon.
I had fear of a "gentle giant" career and though was not Super aggressive tonight - that was the closest he has looked to being angry and desperate to make a difference.
Hope he can stay in that 17 as impact is exactly an area we can improve.

Had a good pre season then got injured. Has a heap of potential, lets hope he stays fit, need another big bopper on the bench, especially since we lost Sipley

I've rated him since day dot. Sure he could have played with more aggression earlier but still a pup in props sense.
Unfortunately I don't think dessie rates him.

He has potential but 7 minutes against tired players doesn’t mean a lot. Just like a couple of late tries should not hide the fact we were poor.

Should have been used earlier with game on the line and that would have been a better indicator. With our injuries he does need to be in the 17 and hope he lives up to expectations. Would be a real bonus if he gets his attitude right. He’s a weapon physically

JetSki should not be on the bench when we are at full strength.. No awareness , makes errors at vital times, gives away penalties, often get ragdolled. He tries hard but he’s just not what you need for impact off the bench.

Tend to agree, he's a bit of a loose cannon & a bit of a liability with giving away penalties.

Mate, if your choice is The Magic Pudding, Perrett or Gosweiski, who do you choose? Has to be Jack, surely. At least he plays balls to the wall, and intense.

We need more up tempo, and less pylons.

So was the man in your avatar. Exactly what we need. We are soft as pillows ATM .

We need Steve Matai, and his reputation back in this team.

Opposition teams come in confident, because we are soft. Jack's hard to play against, because he gives his all, and won't take a backwards step.

I like him.

I said fell strength Ryano

Paseka / Boyle given time have more upside than JetSki given the make up of our bench. He’s been running around for 18 months now and has shown little or no improvement in the areas of the game that are an issue.

You can’t have both Waddell and JetSki on the bench in the modern game and run a second hooker. Makes Sipley your only big man on the bench and makes AFB and Marty’s minutes off the field too much of a disadvantage.Weve seen how we drop away badly when they go off and that won’t change till one of the two big men in Paseka and Boyle start to fire . Waddell Is clearly ahead of JetSki for the back row reserve spot.
It may sound strange but in terms of the whole season I think we may look back at his season ending injury as being as important as losing DCE and Tommy for a while. Has was going great and it has thrown our rotation out totally. Can’t have two bsckrowers and a hooker with an unproven rookie big man on the bench.

In reality we need a five eight , a power forward and a big fast modern day winger to really mix it and I’m sure that is where Des will be looking to recruit or fast track guys like Hoppa and into the side.
We can compete with all but a couple full strength now but those positions need to be addressed to get some silverware.

Paseka showed vast improvement and aggression last night compared to his games last year under Tbagz. Now that he appears to be the 3rd best prop available in our squad, I hope he shows more improvement each game and eventually he will get more minutes. His hits in defence rocked a few big men from the panthers. He shot out of the line trying to inspire his team mates I was so happy to see that kind of temperament from the big fella.
I hope he studies Nelson Asofa-Solomona and how to apply pressure and dominance around the ruck for such a big frame. AFB and Marty can’t fit him under their wing but hopefully he’s soaking up all their experience. His hit ups had purpose last night too! More of that please :praying:

I dont have a problem with tough, in-your-face players like that, but Jetski hasn't really started to deliver what Matai did with consistency.

He may very well go on to do so but from what I've seen so far, the risk outweighs the reward.

He just needs to learn to temper his volatility & channel it better & I'm sure he will do so but a stint in reggies wouldn't do him any harm.

I liked him last year and liked what I saw last night

I don’t see the reserves games, but by the sounds of it he has a bit of Shaun Lane syndrome and looks ordinary there but steps up in first grade

Yeah, and know what, tbh I'm glad Waddell went a little crazy last night. Showed the Panthers we won't take a backwards step.

We need aggression mate. Big time. I really miss Choc, Matai and others . Intimidating factors.

Taufua and AFB are really, REALLY strong forwards, but not forces of nature intimidation wise.

Waddell's headbutt was classic, must be his signature move, he set it up beautifully.
