Our Squad - 2018

To be honest (and for the older fans) this has a feeling of the 93 season to it. We have a heap of kids coming through who may or may not be ready to make the leap much like Moore, Ryan, Beaver, Kosef, Gardner etc did back then
Yep. Instead of Bozo's Boys it will be Barrett's Boys.

I wish .......

The idea that we will be a worse team because our recruitment wasn't as strong is just fallacious.

Most of the teams people think recruited well simply got on the halves merry go round, the only team that ends up in a better position because of it is probably Penrith.

We have a young squad that it now has an extra year of experiencecomma and that fact alone will make us a very strong team compared to last year. The lack of an established 5/8 is slightly concerning and I wouldn't mind an extra second rower or propcomma but we aren't actually that weak compared to last year.

Sironen winterstein Trbojevic gosiewski lane tangainoa. I think our backrow is fine.
Agree that we will definitely be stronger this yr with all the extra experience and another full off season. We didn't need to recruit cos we have the best crop of young players in the comp...its all about retaining this squad for years to come.
We've got kelly parker gosiewski T.wright croker Anderson paseka sipley to name a few, on top of our established stars chez Trbojevics uate walker Taufua taupau sironen. We've got plenty.
We WILL add another half to our roster which will make us a definite top 4 side

I am more worried how Dylan comes back more than another half

The guy had a huge physical presence for us last year and played with confidence

This was opposed to year 1 when he was a shot duck for us in both confidence and team work

My fear is that he was a real strong team member who confidence our players respected and found entertaining

Without this I would hate to see burden land in the back of some of out key players and team and make their time less enjoyable if they stop competing

We don’t need DCE or Tom to think they must lead and be the go to people

If we are strong, that will just happen as a matter of course

I also think Siro will be strong and play a gift like game for us

Trent will build the team around honesty loyalty and working hard together on and off the field

If we are injury free we will surprise and I will take us on to make the top 6 and maybe 4

I am actually tipping roosters to miss the 4

For the squad line up
With the hooker/utility role
You could use
Jackson Hastings
Joey Lussick - he is still signed with the club
Lewi Brown

Take a gander at this load of crap. It shows just how bad journalists....especially internet journalists.....are at their 'job' these days.....and remember this was published TODAY.

In Manly's predicted round 1 team for 2018......No Darcy Lussick (replaced by Sipley at starting prop), no Curtis Sironen (replaced by Lewis Brown), while somehow Cam Cullen is going to be on our bench even though he is no longer at the club.

Quality journalism here folks......ROFLMAO

Same guy had bj Lawrence starting at titans. Load of ****

Only on ST could Brenton Lawrence be bagged, even in retirement.
The bloke gave his all, came back from injuries most of us will never have to dream of, and is a fantastic human to top it all off.

Good job Bozo, in restoring my faith in the negative wankers who post here.
Brenton did give his all and he did play his best footy for us but there comes a time at the end of an NRL career when your best is not up to the elite NRL standard you do then right thing and retire and that's what he did .
You and your mate @EagleFlys did not see his retirement coming but I did as I noticed his decline last season .
As for you restoring your faith in the negative wankers who posy here I say good luck with that 😉
Brenton was/is a fantastic person but his fantastic playing time was up with the mighty Sea eagles and I am glad he moved on and I wish him all the best.

Squad is alot weaker next year if we don't buy an experience half for DCE. I think we won't make the 8 in 2018 judging how other clubs have recruited in the off season tbh..
5/8 Weaker (guess it has potential though), and depth is stronger in 2018

Not that many changes really despite all the rumours making it feel that way. 5/8 at the moment is just one big risk, although if that goes at least decent believe we have a stronger squad in next season as depth is hugely important. Think Toafofoa Sipley will be a huge buy and will not really make Lawrence's exit too apparent.

Well said Bozo.

It may have gone down a lot better if you had said all this originally, instead of using the word "softcock" as a descriptive regarding Brenton.

The bloke gave his all in a Manly jersey and deserves a lot more respect than you originally showed him.
You should be called out every time you stoop to that level when discussing a player/person like BJ.

Sorry for not posting properly and giving the wrong impression . I was trying to say that there is no sentiment in the win at all costs NRL and I was glad that we had no soft cocks in the club who are unable to make the tough decisions and call it time when a players time is up and give his spot to another player who is up to the standard that can make our team a premiership winning team again .
I love this forum . It stirs up our Manly Passion . 🙂

Go and google Bozos Babes 1993 and it goes straight to silvertails . And here you are commenting back in the day of 93 .

Your in there as well Boze , but your bozos Babes are not quite the same as fultons babes mate . Better looking through.

That's oK feathered friend , we all have different views . You think Kelly and Brown are outstanding and I see them as weaknesses in our team .
You believe Lawrence was solid I didn't see it that way, I saw his decline and the rest is history when he ruled him self out of another NRL season because his body was done .
To be honest with you Ryan I am as puzzled as how you see some players as you are with me and this is what forums are all about .

Hey @BOZO old mate:

Brian Kelly's huge first year at the Sea Eagles capped off with selection in the Emerging Blues squad.

Just hot off the press 🙂

Thought's mate?
@Woodsie you'll appreciate this mate hahaha.

It's a bottom of the 8 or a just miss the 8 squad. No improvement on this year and hopefully we don't go backwards due to the loss of Green which is a big possibiliy. We also have the injury to Walker which is a another major worry on how he will return from such an injury. Other teams have recruited a lot better and strengthened their teams we haven't. We've recruited almost no one and those that we have recruited are no bodies. I am not buying into this we've got all this great young talent crap. We don't. We have nothing to get too excited about. It's another rebuilding year but we wont be anywhere near serious contenders.

Much I think will depend on injuries and the 5/8 position. If we go through the season without major injuries to our best players, and Hastings or Croker achieve at least a functional combination with DCE and a good conduit to the backs, we will be at least as good as last year. When you consider the development of players like Kelly, Sironen, AFB, Api, the Trbojevics, and maybe Tom Wright, Funa, Fainu, Anderson and some of those big forwards coming through, we have a squad on the rise. Much will depend on the effectiveness of Barrett's coaching. I've always believed players generally move a level up with a good developmental coach. I get a sense that Barrett is one of those.

I agree with your sentiment, and what you point out generically as injuries, really comes down to DCE injuries.

We really can't afford the luxury of 2 rookie halves and expect to be a top 8 team. So here is hoping for a DCE injury free 2018.
