Our Squad - 2018

What a delightful way of talking about Lawrence who twice battled career ending back injuries to play for Manly ..... you are an arsehole Bozo.
If Lawrence was under performing, atleast he had good reason with the seriousness of Injuries he's had. IMHO, he played with passion and determination and the younger Manly forwards ought to take note of it and be inspired by it. Nate Myles.....I got nothing to say.

No sentiment in the NRL . No place for soft cocks . Successful clubs don't waste cap $pace on underperforming players and I applaud our club for not retaining Lawrence and Myles .

Lawrence a "soft cock" .... that will do me.

I no longer think you have the mental competence to understand what the hell you are typing .... seek assistance.
I never called Lawrence a soft cock . I was saying there is no place for soft cock decisions in the ruthless , win at all costs NRL comp

Mate, I don't get it. Your so pro Manly, and your so positive about the team (even when the chips are down), but when there is a player you dislike, they are basically dead to you for eternity, and it's open season on them.

I saw Brian Kelly @ Brooky today, and he is looking like an absolute machine mate. I also hope you remember how well he played with Taufua early on (almost 1 try per game in fact). Also, the way Kelly finished the season was outstanding.

For the record, I believe Manly offered Lawrence another contract (one year) - it was the tenure HE chose to leave for. Manly felt he was capable of another solid season mate. Secondly, Myles sought a release to get more on field time, because he felt Barrett wasn't giving him enough starting time minutes.

Brenton Lawrence was all heart, speed, energy & passion. Don't get where you're coming from mate, at all - sorry.

That's oK feathered friend , we all have different views . You think Kelly and Brown are outstanding and I see them as weaknesses in our team .
You believe Lawrence was solid I didn't see it that way, I saw his decline and the rest is history when he ruled him self out of another NRL season because his body was done .
To be honest with you Ryan I am as puzzled as how you see some players as you are with me and this is what forums are all about .

You can't get where he is coming from because sociopathic sycophants' are special people, born devoid of internal reason.
However, I will say that there is no chance in hell the dribbler would spout anything about his views on BJ's efforts in 2017 "to his face".

It's called being a troll. He loves to bait and grandstand, then move the issue when too juch spotlight is on.

Did someone mention Lewy brown .

I kinda feel a bit for Brian Kelly. TBH he was on a hiding to nothing this year having to come in and take over from Steve Matai out on our left. And for a rookie that was André the Giant size 23 shoes to fill. Skivy ruled that left side for over a decade and the kid was always going to be compared to the great player we had lost. Unless he had an absolutely outstanding season, it was a no win situation for him.

What didn't help him was the expectations placed on him. Not only was he taking Matai's spot, but there were stories left, right and centre that he was this speedster and one of the fastest at the club. Unfortunately it only took for the first round when he made a break and was easily run down by Radradra to find that speed wasn't his greatest asset as we were led to believe in the pre-season. That didn't help a lot of people's perceptions of him and to some it didn't matter that he scored 5 tries in his first 6 games, he obviously wasn't as good as first thought, thoughts only fueled when his form slumped (coincidentally after Jorge's injury) and he was eventually dropped for a couple of games.

Even though he had an up and down season I still think he did enough that he'll be Barrett's first choice for our left centre in 2018. But he'll have Brad Parker and probably Matthew and Tom Wright breathing down his neck.

I agree with your feelings about Kelly. I think the only threat to him this coming year will be Tom Wright. I seriously think Parker will end up our Brown in future, but much better in the role. Matt Wright is solid but I don't think he'll get much first grade

It's a good squad , there are test and origin players with a mix of youth and experience ,It may not be a team full of champions but it is a team capable of being a champion team , like the great teams of the past
Looking forward to how this squad improves again in 2018

As someone (not me) said in another thread, if DCE is paired with a kid - great. But if DCE gets injured, 2 kids are going to struggle.

Only on ST could Brenton Lawrence be bagged, even in retirement.
The bloke gave his all, came back from injuries most of us will never have to dream of, and is a fantastic human to top it all off.

Good job Bozo, in restoring my faith in the negative wankers who post here.

The clown has so much dribble, his feathered friends must spend all day wiping his chin.

Pretty decent analysis from Nathan Ryan (Fox Sports) here:

MANLY SEA EAGLES

Gains: Jack Gosiewski (Rabbitohs), Toafofoa Sipley (Warriors), Lachlan Croker (Raiders)

Losses: Brenton Lawrence (Titans/retired), Blake Green (Warriors)

Key buy: Jack Gosiewski. There’s no denying the Sea Eagles are light on in the edge forward department but the arrival of Gosiewski helps that. A bargain buy who inked a one-year-deal, the 23-year-old has been training the house down. After leaving South Sydney for a fresh start, the 190cm backrower runs a great line and will be pushing for a starting spot at the Sea Eagles. With six games to his name, Gosiewski isn’t well known but could prove to be one of the best value for money purchases next season.

The pressure: Halves depth. The loss of Blake Green is huge. There’s no sugar-coating it. If they can’t replace him, they’re in big trouble. While they have players who can fill a void like Jackson Hastings and Lachlan Croker, they aren’t ready to take the responsibility of week-to-week first grade halves.

Analysis: The release of Green is threatening to come back to bite them. Trent Barrett has a handy roster at his fingertips. Ideally they’ll be able to add an experienced half to their list before the season kicks off and they’re shy another quality back, but still, they’ll be competitive next season.

Roster rating: B-

It's a bottom of the 8 or a just miss the 8 squad. No improvement on this year and hopefully we don't go backwards due to the loss of Green which is a big possibiliy. We also have the injury to Walker which is a another major worry on how he will return from such an injury. Other teams have recruited a lot better and strengthened their teams we haven't. We've recruited almost no one and those that we have recruited are no bodies. I am not buying into this we've got all this great young talent crap. We don't. We have nothing to get too excited about. It's another rebuilding year but we wont be anywhere near serious contenders.

The idea that we will be a worse team because our recruitment wasn't as strong is just fallacious.

Most of the teams people think recruited well simply got on the halves merry go round, the only team that ends up in a better position because of it is probably Penrith.

We have a young squad that it now has an extra year of experiencece, and that fact alone will make us a very strong team compared to last year. The lack of an established 5/8 is slightly concerning and I wouldn't mind an extra second rower or prop, but we aren't actually that weak compared to last year.
