Yup, Cust should replace Walker. Cust should be developed as a 5/8, because yes, he is good, and Walker is a strike centre.

Des would have been well aware how Cust was going for Blacktown ...not impressed I would think
When he played 5/8 in 1st grade the position was his to keep if he was good enough
One of his glaring downfalls?...Walker never saw the ball ...who gave him a blast in one game
From my observations Cust seemed preoccupied with big plays, like feeding Tom on every play
His defence is appalling, because he has no idea where to position himself (outside backs mirror the position of there halves) Cust was all over the place conversely Walker does it to perfection
Would Des have persisted with Cust if he didn’t get injured ?
No way
Anyone pushing for Cust to be 5/8 is unwittingly sabotaging our hopes of making finals
To be honest I don’t know where Cust goes from here
Walkers not signed up yet so who knows you might get your wish

He has potential but needs to iron out these issues. I would have put croker in, but ok with walker there.

Thank you. I've been saying this about Cust for months.

He let in as many tries with either poor reads or missed tackles as he either scored himself or set up for others.

When he did run the ball instead of playing catch and pass, he tended to run diagonally towards the sideline and nearly always ran Walks and Jorge out of room which was a lot of the reason why when he did get the ball, Walks often ran infield....sideways. He was looking for space that his 5/8 had taken away him.

As you said, other than his concussion episode, with Croker injured and LG out of form, 5/8 was Cust's to make his own. Yet as soon as DCE came back (which saw the end of LG) and Parker got over his jaw, Cust was gone, Parker was back at left centre and Walker was in the halves.

Cust has definite issues in his game. He's not the second coming of Bozo or Cliffy that people make him out to be. Not yet anyway, if ever.

He did show promise, no doubt about that. But I sincerely hope that the talk of Cust to 5/8 and Walker to fullback is just Des playing mind games with the Sharks.

Didn't Des say recently that Cust is still maturing and needs time to adjust to first grade . I think the backs will stay , only Garrick and Elliot to change around .

I would have been happier to see Walker at right center and Tavita Funa at left with Cust at 5/8. The large but with that is their defense. I just think Parker and Suli are playing injured and can't give 100%. Their defense has been real bad last couple of weeks.

Even happier if Walker was a centre rather than a center.

IMO, Suli, Parker & Walker all had their best games of the season (so far) tonight. It's great to see what damage Suli can wreak - he has the ability to be making line breaks like that every game. Walker is playing with more confidence & I expect his performances will continue to improve.

They whole team played well - more go forward in the middle, more offloads, DCE running more - also, there was more mix in Jake's attacking game with strong hit ups & less ball playing.

Given the teams circumstances i had a feeling Jake would primarily be used to hit the ball up and phase out that extra ball playing role, more space and options for our halves to operate
Definitely showed more go forward
Parker just needs to sum the situation quicker when he gets the ball from Walker
Whether to have a go or pass quickly onto Jorge
Our opposite centre Suli went well just got to position better in defence

We dont have a game manager past the first pass, it all comes from the middle. Our halfback hates getting tackled so his distribution is poor, rushed, and half arsed, but we want the outside backs to take up the slack from the backfoot after the fact. Mmmmmm

If we kicked as a game plan rather than a last resort we might find our centres looking for more ball instead of recovering from head knocks from having to constantly take it out of our own red zone as battering rams. Field position is king and we are an effort team that regularly defies the easier more startegic route to field dominance. We simply have to try harder as we are not smart and always and we wonder why we are injured

our halfback sometimes should take the ball on the fly to create momentum to lead attack or kicking options but he does not, he just needs to have a go in attack and not defence . Week after week, same stuff,

Ps i was bitching about this last year as shaun lane topped our tryscoring list and kelly got sprayed

If fairness you got really lucky with your timing. A broken clock is correct about as many times as we have had a game manager this year.
But i stand corrected, we have a game manager . he just likes to use the skill sparingly . Is that more accurate ?
