Other Games [Round 2, 2022]

Interesting comparison.....

NRL, Storm vs Rabbitohs at AAMI Park - attendance of 13,269 (44.98% of capacity)

AFL, Carlton vs Richmond at MCG - attendance of 72,179 (72.16% of capacity)

So the way they played in the first half, Melbourne looked like they were going to lap the Bunnies, but they fell away in the second half & the Bunnies caught up with them only to lose in golden point.

Melbourne scored 1 point after halftime.

Interesting, as already mentioned, had they kept Reynolds they definitely would have won last night within the 80 minutes with Reynolds on goal kicking duties & broken their 17 game hoodoo.

From what I've seen in round 1 & last night's game, we're in for a very "open" comp this year & I wonder if Penrith last week was simply the "perfect storm" & they might also struggle to be consistent?

PS I still haven't seen a game where the ruck was policed as tightly as ours vs Penrith was so far...

Funny to hear all the latrell fat shaming on here... recently read an article saying he's given up the grog this season and has never felt better physically.

Credit to him though, kicking a fg from 45 out... flew an additional 15... could have kicked from his own 40 almost!

Latrell is a faster (possibly even bigger?) version of Big Artie, would be no surprise to see him eventually become a ball playing prop. He'd probably kill it actually.

I don't see a problem with playing a draw during regular season matches, and sharing the points. In finals it should be five minutes each way, and if it's still locked up then -- and only then -- should it become the first scorer.
Golden Point is just about kicking a field goal. Refs stop ruling on contentious plays, offsides etc. so it becomes a lucky dip and very unfair to the losing side. In finals this unfairness would be compounded by the critical importance of the matc; it could end a team's season.
Let them play 10 minutes so that both teams get a fair crack at showing their superiority.

Wait on - did that Melbourne Storm ground announcer say that Bellamy had won 5 premierships?

And Abdo didn't correct that 'oversight'??

Andrew Abdo was also just channeling Arnie's voice during the presentation....I was waiting for him to say, "I just arrived...on the chopper"
Didn't see this, but it amounts to tacit acknowledgement & approval by Abdo and the NRL.
Melbourne really should be prevented from claiming the stripped premierships as legitimate.
Grow a pair & discipline the scum.

Well that’s one game already that you can say Souths would have 100% won had Reynolds been out there.

Letting him go was the dumbest move since the Worms signed Choc for 4 years.
Only if his body holds up. Souths were only prepared to give him 1 year contracts and lost him because Broncos offered 3 years, both on similar money. Even if he has a good year, he doesn't represent value unless they get at least 2.5 good years.

Penrith doing the same in your face, smothering, draining type football while the Goons just make errors like we did.

So you’re saying the mcg can fit 100,000 and aami can fit about 30,000?

I'll give St Merge this, they've been willing ... but Penrith don't need to be gifted 6 again's to be able to score tries.
Yeah I was concerned that their effort was showing us up... then the bunker stepped in and sat a bloke for 10...
