Origin III - The Decider

NRL.com said Haumole was picked to play out of his normal position as a middle forward not a right side second rower.

What’s the point of that ?

I love seeing Jake in origin (bias as a manly fan) and I’m a qlder so his performance doesn’t bother me too much but what I don’t understand is the captaincy, I was thinking at first it would be good because for us he is always emotional and laying down the law when the team get together but I think naming him as captain for someone who is only on the field in origin for such a short amount of time is useless and it feels like it’s taken away from his performance and it’s too much pressure for him. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

If, by some remote chance (no, not a bunker joke 🤭) NSW do win it's going to make for a sheepish Jake lifting the trophy.

I dont understand how Jake is captain, and if he wasn't he would have been dropped after game 1.
See the charge down v the cows - when they talk about an origin play that is it. Also see his hit on the first tackle in game 2

One thing NSW has is a balanced bench for an open game or the traditional “grind “ which has been absent the first two games

Jake is clearly there for the the close grind game, when that is not happening he does not play as many minutes apart from setting the tone in the first 20

Yep good point.

He is so good at controlling the ruck defensively. But often those guys are first chopped, we seen what happened last year when "Spaceman" opted for TPJ over Jake. In game 1.

When you scan both line-ups you realise how many stars are missing from both squads due to injury.
RL is a brutal sport.
100%

That is why I cant begrudge players earning good money. They absolutely destroy their bodies

Agree - he was up there with one of us coaching the game

Now you're just getting silly QRL. There's only one maroon and white team.

"I can't figure it out: Do you want to be like me, or do you want to BE me?"

Saw a news report today that the Blues have only ever won the penalty count at Suncorp 6 times in 60 games.

I’d expect this to be the same tomorrow night and will lead to an easy QLD win.

Doesn’t mean the Blues won’t try , but any side , with 75-80% possession in the first half will set up a commanding lead.

Penalty count first half , Maroons 7 Blues 1, 6 agains Maroons 6 Blues 0.

That should do it nicely.
