"ASADA claims the importation of peptides in Australia has increased by 255 per cent over the past year.

The test for peptides was developed in Cologne, one of just two laboratories that has the capabilities to detect the banned substance. The other is in Montreal.

Andruska said ASADA had been freezing samples since about 2007 but began isolating those for peptides testing since 2011.

While the NRL and AFL had contracts with ASADA to test players, they did not have legal ownership of the samples nor the powers to dictate when and where the tests would take place. "

Only two laboratories capable of testing for peptides worldwide and from what I hear the tests don't come cheap. I imagine the authorities would have to have pretty strong suspicions someone was cheating before they sent samples away for testing.
