Does anyone here still have any old footy cards from the mid 70s?.If you do,it would be well worth saving them, they are worth big bucks on ebay these days.A couple of years ago i started buying any Manly 1974 cards i could see on ebay, and they were only around $4-5 then, but now any Manly card from 1974 will fetch at least $15,with some of the stars like Fulton and Eadie easily getting $30 or above.
Peter Peters was the number 1 card in the set and therefore he is normally the highest price card going.I saw a sale of his card a few months ago for $70,i couldnt believe it.
I was just wondering if anyone else on this forum was still saving their old cards from the 70s.

Mate I have approx 2 or 3 full sets of cards from the 1970s - I am pretty sure I have the full 1974 set as it has the 1973 Grand final on the back.  Might have to dig them out.

I've got a ton of cards - not many from 70's though. Just eadie and Fulton i think

Got the full set of Aussie tour of Engalnd 94 cards - unopened.

No doubt you also have the full set of Ian Roberts change room cards as well.

If you ever think of selling your 1974 set, dont sell it as a full set, sell it card by card...you will get so much more money that way.I bought a full set on ebay about 2 years ago for $200,but you could get around $1000 if you sold each card individually now.

Looks like you bought cards for a dud team wheel.  You should have bought Norths ones.  Ken Irvine just sold for $190,50  http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=350019416551&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=022

Or this one with your favourite players - Fred Au Kuoi and Steve Mayoh, John Gray and Keith Harris.  It could go for thousands so you will need to get in quick.

What do you mean I got the full set in 1974, probably cost about 5 cents & that was with a bit of chewy as welll

And you still have them all as you couldn't bear to part with anyone of them especially Steve Meow.

I am going to look them up & see whta I got - if I can $50 a card (or $190) for the good one they are gooorrrnnne

The cards that go for $190 or above are normally the 1964 ones, because they were the first set that was produced by Scanlens.
The 1974 cards are also priced pretty high because they were the first set with action shots;cards from previous years were just posed shots at training.

The Norths 1974 cards are worth keping as they beat Manly 27-15 the only time they played that year in round one.  A collectors item.

Norths only finished 6th in '74 so their cards wouldnt be worth much, but i guess considering they are now extinct, old Bears fans might still like them for nostalgia.

Any year that they didn't finish with the wooden spoon was a memorable one.

While you are on e-bay wheel you must purchase this classic collectors item to play over and over again
