OK - Help this Salary Cap issue

Does that mean in my job I’m working really well for a few years and I’m paid well so then I can just stop working and expect to keep being paid because I previously did a good job? I’m sure my work would be thrilled with that. I’ve never seen a situation at any other club where players do nothing. No community work or rehab, mentoring young players or anything so I’m not sure how you can defend it

And I’ll think you’ll find over time they will filter back into the club and help in some capacity. At least that’s my hope anyway Lurker.

Decade of sustained success earns you a bit leeway in my eyes mate. And don’t compare a footballers lives to the lives of everyday people. Different on every level. So making comparisons to your job or mine for that matter is ridiculous.

No. I can't agree that Matai and Steward deserved to be paid for staying away from the club, unless it was the club's idea. Both players could have contributed a lot with mentoring, encouragement, tactics and community engagement. If that is the case then I hope whoever it was at the club that didn't tap into the legacy that these two players could have had in 2017 has been sacked.

Name me a single other club where players “earned” the right to do nothing in their final year of a contract. I think the club was worried they would bag them if they used them in any official capacity. That screams of children having a tantrum

So we got the money....what close to a million extra in 2017 with Snake, Matai goneski's and this is money to spend per season??.
Also the myles money whatever that was.
The cap apparently gone up ??
This fine of $330,000 a season seems a drop in the ocean when these factors come in.
How is it making sense that players need to leave on top of no cash for new signings or is this media crap as per usual....I have more experience on the footy and even odd info on signings, but this salary cap is NOT my strength....anyone explain this in simple terms aside of how dumb the management is ??

Many players get paid a % of the cap rather than an amount.

Therefore cap goes up, players pay goes up, club is still farked

Your right, I can’t name another club. And I can certainly see your point. It’s just for me personally, those group of players will always get a bit more respect and leeway because of that great era.
