Yeah I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it Matas. Out Dubbo way it probably goes by a different name, like the "Gordon Estate Handshake" or something.

I'd prefer if we didn't glorify some Yankee army battalion by naming our supporter group after it. By limiting ourselves to the "Eagle" moniker we don't have a lot of options available. That's why I'd prefer something more generic, possibly to do with the ocean, as I suggested before. Like The Maroon Tide, The Maroon Wave, or The Manly Swell (could be open to Swill based heckling though).

In response to Gronk's thoughts....I was always under the impression an "Eagle" was 4 men getting some special loving, not 5, but maybe that's where the screaming part comes in, on the entry of the 5th.

Why is a name so important? Surely this is just about supporters who want to sit/stand as a group at matches (particularly away games) the opportunity to do so.

Am I so stupid as to miss the point and why countless posts are devoted to it.

Exactly, along with the bonus of another revenue stream from specific merchandising to play on this indentification/exclusivity.

As a Manly supporter I already have a sense of identification, why would you then attempt to segregate that?

By giving it a name would that not give the group some form of perceived exclusivity and therefore act as a deterrrent to other supporters not to join in matches by the assumption that they are not in that group and then sit away from the them?

They still exist but some here were prevented from joining as they were not in accord with the aims of the group. Much of the siege mentality of little factions of support emanate from that time!!!

What about the "Whitecaps" as a name for the supporter group ? Is a play on the ocean theme and if the group all wore white caps we could have a sea of white heads with maroon flags and jumpers. Would look pretty good i reckon.

I hate being negative.. but how many times has the club seen through this? Hasn't really got off the ground before.. I think a more solid plan than this is needed!
