NSW Cup 2025

A bit of an update for the young guys in NSW cup this year:

Joey Walsh - 19 years old
10 games played
4 tries
5 forced drop outs
11 try assists
7 line break assists
85 run metres per game
93% tackle efficiency

Hugo Hart - 18 years old? (only including 80 min games because the other 3 games he played in are 5 minute cameos)
3 games
1 try
1 line break
Average 29 tackles with 95% efficiency
100 run metres per game

Simi Laiafi - 18-19 years old (not including a short cameo game in round 4 when he only got on for the last 5-10 mins)
3 games
103 run metres per game
16 tackles per game 89% efficiency
42 post contact metres per game.
10 runs per game.

Something interesting is that in his first game he only played 21 minutes, game 2 he played 33 minutes & game 3 he played 56 minutes.

Zaidas Muagututia - 19 years old
It’s a bit harder to tell what his year has been like because he has had sporadic minutes behind Croker, GCKT & Simpkin all at different points of the season. I’m sure we’ll see a lot more of him next year with GCKT & Croker both possibly moved on.
He’s played 2 games for 60 minutes this year & averaged 65 run metres + 31 tackles in those so that’s promising.
Thanks Ohgeez throw in the Large boys and the guys we got this year things start to look very good. Go Manly

Hart scored a great long range try and stood up Dane Lorie to score in the corner. Great speed for a forward.

Laiafi was very impressive with some huge carries. He is coming along very nicely and looks to improved his match fitness.

Pua’avase was also one that caught my eye. Always poking in nose through the line with huge post contact metres.

Muagututia should be in 1st grade IMO. He has laser line passes off the deck giving his halves time and space. Plus he is a very creative hooker which is something we have missed for some time now. Layed on a try with a crafty kick.

I can also see why there are big wraps on Walsh. Likes to take the line on with his running game and plays very straight. Had a hand in a few try’s and very solid in defence. Really like the look of this kid.

Some really good young players coming through at the moment. Can see all these guys cracking 1st grade at some point over the next season

Hart and laiafi seem real goers. Looking good for us next year

Panthers N S W cup side gave the Manly line up a bit of a touch up in a trial match for 25 so looks like some definite competitive improvement for the season proper for the Manly Reggies going on yesterday 's result .
Might also serve to help keep the i st grade line up in a good level competitive outlook and playing wise
