NSW Cup 2025

Nav deserves a run off the bench. Got to keep those A grade boys on there toes. We got props going down. And Jurbo just looking slower than ever and not in a hurry to get onside.

To day was a step forward. But the speed needs to improve. Nav can add to that.

I think it's time.
Parra tore through our middle like world beaters the moment Jake went off it was a joke

How was laiafi
Didn’t get enough time on the paddock, he does have a good carry and looks like in size he can play against the bigger bodies.

Thought Matterson played well and looked better than his brother, Sipley got good game time and was good enough for me to have him in the 17, Konz he went good, I watched big Navren closely and he has some ability, I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets upgraded to a development contract so the club don’t have to wait until round 11 to play him in first grade, gives the halves that extra option for points close to the oppositions line.

In a week where there’s been a lot of chatter about Manly’s future halves, Jake Arthur put on a show in NSW Cup with the 22-year-old setting up two tries, getting a linebreak, two linebreak assistsm seven tackle busts and 155 metres in his side’s win over the Eels. Arthur was also rock-solid in defence with 14 tackles and no misses.

Up-and-coming winger Navren Willett impressed with two tries, a try assist, three linebreaks and over 150 metres, while Aaron Schoupp was unstoppable in the centres with a try, a linebreak, a linebreak assist and 198 metres.

It was a massive game from the Sea Eagles’ pack too with Tof Sipley, Chris Patolo, Dean Matterson and Caleb Navale all racking up over 100 running metres.

Navale Number 1 in NSWRL for defence rating and attack looks good too.

Does anyone know whether Konz can play lock? Seems a bit strange to have three hookers in the 17, unless they plan on playing one elsewhere. Obviously early days, but I do think Muagututia would make a good lock. He strikes me as a Brandon Smith type of lock/hooker, best suited to coming off the bench and playing a hybrid role around the ruck. From all accounts, he's quite good in defence too.

Also, can anyone suggest a reason for placing Dunford on the bench? I haven't been able to see much NSW Cup, so I'm confused as to why he's been dropped to the bench, given his strength in defence, unless it was purely to get Navale starting.

Konz played 13 in Flegg, but he looked good playing nine.

Dunford played some minutes in the middle since returning from suspension, the relegation to the bench I assume is for Matterson (in the 30 man squad) and Navale (development contract) to be in the 13, in saying that it also benefits Dunford enhancing his allround game by playing on an edge and in the middle. Looked better running with the ball on Sunday.
